I like his approach to the questions. He starts at the bottom right and works left, then goes up a row. Knocks the sails out of his competitors by getting all the big money early. Plus he's nuts on his wagers.

What was the purpose of marketing him as breaking all the records before he ever started ?
So people would watch from the start?
I mean it sort of spoils it that he’s gonna go on such a tear
does it? how? they never said he was breaking all the records, just that they were in jeopardy.
when does he lose? what records does he break?

In that recent interview Alex did w/ Michael McKeon, he talked about it being a huge mistake to go for the big money clues at the bottom before contestants understand the nuances of the categories. They get more difficult, but it's also easy to get in a hole if they misread the puns or whatever in the category descriptions. So if he's nailing the high dollar clues first, it's impressive that he's figuring out the categories that quickly - and not just that he knows stuff.

this is definitely true for the heavy majority of players. for guys like this, it doesnt matter and it's another advantage that he should be utilizing. when you are in control of the board, you have the advantage, and bouncing around, attacking high valued clues, seeking DD, etc... adds to that advantage.

d he didn’t know what kind of kick the NFL moved back to the 15 yard line a few years ago.
That was very surprising.... of all the things to know.. and a sports bettor doesn't chime in on that fricking clue was so weird

I mean professional sports betting doesn’t necessarily mean NFL.
I agree it is unusual, but it doesn’t mean he isn’t a pro sports bettor. Maybe he doesn’t be NFL for one reason or another

Set the new single game record. And I think maybe the biggest Daily Double ever.

The guy is averaging $61,000 a day

He has also been on 500 questions.
This is strange. There is a question when you sign up to take the contestant test that asks if you have ever participated in another game show. I could have sworn that this would have barred him from participating.

NFL is this countries biggest sport BY FAR.
We created a National Holiday for its biggest day.
Everybody and their wife and mother probably know the XP being moved back. The NFL is at least on in the background in most households in America - even if you're doing something else.
And this guy is a "Professional sports bettor?" - the NFL is the #1 bet upon sports in America.

Maybe "professional sports better" means Daily Fantasy Nerd. They don't use kickers.

Oh you think that’s strange? How about them asking the SAME EXACT QUESTION today about Hopps being related to marijuana as they asked on the other show he was on that was linked at the bottom of the last page? It was the second question the Beast answered.

Yeah at 71,000 before Final Jeopardy and Alex says he’s 4,400 away from the daily record and dude just scoffed like “we’ll see what we can do”
Guy is a machine. Sameer today was just excited to be on the same panel with him

That was awesome today. When he pushed all in at start of double jeopardy when he was up 14k to 2k and 1k I laughed so hard.

For the folks questioning whether he's really a sports bettor, for whatever reason, here's an ESPN article that was easy to find: LINK
quote:
Las Vegas sportsbooks sources confirmed to ESPN that Holzhauer is a respected bettor. Holzhauer told ESPN he has been betting on sports since 2006 and that he started by focusing on baseball futures, before gravitating to football, basketball and hockey.
"Now, I focus largely on in-game betting, where the oddsmaker often struggles to put an accurate line with only few seconds to think about it," Holzhauer told ESPN in an email. "I think my work is similar to an investment bank, except that I'm the analyst, trader, fund manager and day trader all into one."
