the only way to make it work is to go retro - set the stories back in the 60-70s as intervening ops between the existing movies and let them be anachronisms. It's a way to be "non-woke" and not be attacked (be period pieces)

These would make some seriously good movies. What's cool about that is that they wouldn't have to be linear stories, they could be something like "Bond's greatest cases" kind of thing. Can do a series if needed or on-offs if it makes more sense.

Hopefully they mean something like "young bond origin story" (which I would still not be super psyched about, but it has potential) and not "lets decide what demographic characteristics we want the character to have, then build a story around that". They almost certainly mean the latter.

Elba would have been a great candidate (who just happens to be black), but I think he's well past prime age to be cast.
He turns 50 this year. How many films before he ages out? 2? Craig is just now 54.
They absolutely should go younger. Younger than Hardy/Fassbender /Ejiofor(45) or Bale (48).
Hiddleston or Redmayne would just about the right age (40/41) so you can potentially get a 4th/5th film if things line up just right and are both roughly 6' or taller.
My Hail Mary pick is still Jack O'Connell. He's just short to play Bond (same problem McAvoy, Iwan Roen or Jamie Bell would have).

It is going to TANK when they hire Idris Elba or a woman to play 007. And they will say it’s due to misogyny or racism.
