Jack Ryan 2 is history's most mindless and worst TV show.

The plot of the entire season is built on the death of a US senator. Too bad no motive is ever given. What benefit does Reyes have in hiring a foreign assassin to kill Senator Moreno while he's in Venezuela and bring the eyes of the US press and the weight of the American military on Venezuela?
Total nonsense. How hard is it to build a decent story before filming? I could have written a better script in thirty minutes.

My only complaint is that nobody in the US seemed to care that a US senator was just assassinated on foreign soil

A Muslim from Belle Chasse.
US gunboat patrolling a major river in a foreign country for days or weeks on-end without any trouble.
Jack Ryan casually cruising around Venezuela searching for political prisoner camps after the US Embassy has been shut down and American diplomats forced out.
US military and CIA invading a foreign country, landing military helicopters on the Presidential Palace, killing 50 foreign soldiers, without any authority. I mean, they're not even supposed to be in the country. Suddenly, they have US helicopters and are attacking the seat of Venezuela's government. Then one of the CIA guys is concerned about killing the Venezuelan President because "we don't have authority for this."
Jack Ryan gets stabbed through the hand with the letter opener/hair dagger in England. Days later in Venezuela, he is handling an automatic weapon without any dressing, wound, or evidence that he just had a 1 inch thick blade pierce every layer of his hand.
It's all bad. I made a list of people who recommended this show in that other thread and put them on my incredibly stupid posters list. Bama and Beer, Scooby, udtiger, tigger1, Jimmy2shoes, Miganey, JasonL79 (although I respect your seafood knowledge), Xenophon, Fusaichi Pegasus, RollTide1987, Dave Worth, Hu Flung Pu, lsu777, Boo Krewe, all of you should feel ashamed. Absolutely shameful that, as somewhat literate people, you said positive things about this show and recommended it to others. Your names will forever live on in humiliation on the Arts Board.
But the worst of it goes back to my original complaint:
Why did the Venezuelan President pay an assassin to kill a US Senator and his diplomatic convoy in Venezuela? What did that Senator do? Where was the benefit?
That was probably the worst show I've ever seen. Ever.

Just finished Jack Ryan 2 on Amazon. It was terrible
Yeah both seasons were lazy. They can go ahead and just kill it now.

He didn’t. The other senator did (presumably with Reyes’ consent). He didn’t want Moreno and Jack disrupting the mining operation.
That said, I am in no way defending the logic of it or most of the ridiculous things that happened during the season (i.e. raiding the palace).

Season 1 was great
Season 2 was not
Season 2 was not

Lol. Well he didn’t, so you either didn’t watch the show or didn’t pay attention

I enjoyed season one. While it wasn’t great, it had just enough action and character development to keep me interested. The story was implausible, but the story was still fun.
Season two was just awful all the way through.

There was motive, and Reyes didn’t hire him either. Jack just thought so the whole time until the end.
It wasn’t good. Jack Ryan going around shooting everyone in the head with pistols running at full speed was silly. The whole thing was way over the top.

Pure garbage. The story was incredibly disjointed.

Your poster list made me chuckle a little.
Seriously, were you not entertained at all? Did all the plot holes really affect you that much?
I had a complaint about what was the real issue the bad guys were doing. So they were drilling for material? Who cares?
I recommended it because I can at least be entertained and not dwell upon such small things. Sure the plot is fairly bad but did you not like 80s action films? Yeah sure, they are trying harder ow for it to be “good” but just go into line it’s an 80s action film and you’ll be entertained.
Why isn’t this thread called TulaneLSUs micro rant/review of Jack Ryan season 2 with bonus poster list

I don't recall any T&A in season 2. That's my biggest beef.

The show was mediocre even if you dismiss the plot holes. It was super, super cliche and the acting was really stale.
“If we’re going to do this, we’re doing this together”
The old “I’m taking you off this case!” “Then I’ll just work it on my own” trope.
The guy we thought was pulling all of the strings the whole time wasn’t actually the guy who was pulling all of the strings! It was actually the guy we were lead to believe was trustworthy!
John Krasinski is so much better than this, but I can’t help but watch the show and feel like you’re not getting his best effort. He seems really disinterested.

Those are classic 80s action flick lines. I don’t see the problem if you watch it like that.

Thanks for saving me the time.

Because it’s not supposed to be some campy bullshite like that. The show clearly takes itself seriously and wants the viewer to take it seriously, as well.
