re: It’s a shame people have forgotten the 2005 King Kong movie

• The terrible CGI in the stampede scene.
Sauropods didn't 'gallop'. For me, that scene was more than just an annoyance, it ruined the entire segment of the movie. 50 - 70 - 100 ton animals don't run like freaking cattle down a chute.

It is too long and could have cut out some of the comedic beats, sure
It’s way too long, and much of the skull island portion felt like a Jurassic park sequel.
I liked the score, and the Central Park ice ring was a nice addition.

Naomi Watts is hot
Not even close to Jessica Lange in the 1976 version, which is a guilty pleasure of mine. John Barry’s score is amazing, especially The Opening. I still listen to it from time to time. The scenery of Kauai, particularly Honopu Beach, is incredible.

I love the movie, but this is the biggest problem with it. If they cut the Skull Island time in half, it would do the movie a huge favor. And as people have said, it's really the dumb dinosaur/raptor chase through the canyon that is the egregious part.
The bug scenes are fine, Kong and the T-Rexes are awesome, and I even get the scenes between Kong and the girl to show a blossoming relationship, although they spent a little too much time on that too IMO.
I didn't mind Jack Black and how he spoke, as that was more just a throwback to the original and the time period it was set in. For example, the whole "'Twas beauty killed the beast" scene sounds so stupid but I liked it because of what I thought they were trying to do.
So there are some criticisms for sure, but it is awesome IMO.

Jessica Lange's boobies in KK76 made a young LSUDon happy in his pants!

Always bothered me.
No it wasn't a-hole. It was you who drug Kong to New York.

I love that movie, when Kong is onscreen
For 2005, the CGI for Kong and NYC were unbelievable. That’s apparently where the whole budget went cause like others have said, the CGI on the stampede was absolute arse
There was a lot of miscastings, Black most notably but I thought also Brody.
The acting from Jimmy and Mr Hayes was also bad, among others
I’ll occasionally turn it on when bored, but I fast forward to when they’re on the island, watch through the capture of Kong, then fast forward to the theater escape sequence

Still haunted by the bug scene. Poor chef.
Good movie though.
