It's on HBOmax. I figured I'd finally give this classic a chance.

This might be the dumbest movie I've ever watched. The story wasn't just written for 6 year olds. I think it was written by 6 year olds. The plot was mind-numbingly illogical. The acting was loud & mostly horrific, with the exception of maybe Sean Astin. Chunk and Sloth, in particular, gave me a migrane.

Unlike other quality 80s kids movie like E.T. or IT, this doesn't hold up & was a load of crap in almost every way. I wasted 1h 54m of my life.

The Goonies should have never been made. It’s that bad.

If you've seen a Marvel film, it's not.

I'm a Gen Xer who has managed to never watch it. I doubt I'm missing anything worthwhile.

It’s better than the Marvel / comic book movies that these nerds have been geeking out about for the last decade

You can all just ride up Troy’s bucket then. It’s our time down here.

You can suck it.

The Goonies rules. I’d put it under Stand By Me, but it’s everything that’s great about being a 10-12 year old boy and finding great adventure in the woods during summer vacation. At least it was. I don’t know what kids do nowadays.

It's a silly lighthearted kids movie with just enough wonder, humor, and heart to be memorable. Not every movie needs to be dark, gritty, and complicated.

Sounds like you had expectations. Your fault. Not the Goonies.

I enjoy the movie because it is fun. In fact it’s so fun and dumb…it’s not even worth critiquing/criticizing in my opinion.

You probably never miss a Marvel or Star Wars movie, either.

Agreed. I finally watched it a year ago after reading on here what a classic it was. Unmitigated garbage.
