It doesn’t really hold back in its madness. Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal create a weirdly homoerotic rivalry that will make you laugh as Ari pokes fun at the protests of 2020. A very American movie. Emma Stone was fun but not in it enough. Austin Butler will surprise you. Lots of gunshots. #Cannes2025
Would those be the violent BLM/Antifa fueled protests over fake racism? The ones which caused billions in damage, wrecked and closed businesses of middle Americans and caused 100's of deaths and injury?
fricking hilarious.
And some folks here accuse ME of interjecting politics into the Movie/TV board, where it doesn't belong.

Those two references alone have the movie on my to see list now.
I'm so tired of Taylor Swift.

Perfect way to describe every film Ari had directed
Hereditary is far from "over-stuffed", and Midsomer was derivative and a little too long, but it was fine.

+1 Beau is afraid is the only one you can call "overstuffed." And I still think there’s some greatness in that film, it's just far too long.

In.
I’ll watch anything Aster makes.

I've read a few that say Aster makes fun of the BLM protests of 2020
So he’s making fun of the white savior types basically. And probably will focus some on the rioters too
I doubt he’ll go as far as pointing out the hypocrisy of backlash received for breaking any covid protocols while encouraging protests in which numerous covid guidelines were ignored.

his real point is that moralistic self-righteousness has become a kind of addiction in America
Ah this is where it's going to piss off both sides. The right will say it's just propaganda ignoring the overall point like usual and the left will get mad because it didn't go hard enough on one side even though that doesn't seem to be the main point
I can't wait for number of threads discussing the movie only to get hijacked and turned into PT Lite

If it is anything like his last movie, it will be an unfocused pile of trash.

Think I’m goimg to pass on being preached to by Hollywood, particularly on this topic. That’s a shame too because I like the director, cast and studio making it.

You probably still believe in Russia, Russia, Russia, don't you? The right was right about Covid and the fact that Biden was a walking vegetable. Those are just some of the most obvious ones.

No Sir. frick that shite you have to be on a side in America 2025.
If your film confirms my biases I will love it (even if I dont see it). I will fight hard on the internet everyday 24/7 for this film and shout down the other side.
If the film does not support my side and/or it makes fun or light of my side again I will take to the internet and do my sworn duty to make sure the film is trashed.

Hey! The 3 people who actually liked Beau is Afraid all post on TD.
The movie was interesting to look at but it was an unfocused mess that went to hell in the last act.

If it actually also criticizes the left, I'm fine with this. Lot of flaws within the MAGA movement. But I doubt it hits both sides equally.
