Re-watched it this weekend, and it's just bad.

Pacing issues, story issues, choppy editing, etc.

Is it his worst effort?

Well, it's either that or Batman Begins or The Dark Knight. I think we should stop considering them canon for this director.

Regardless if it is or not, the dude hasn’t put out a bad movie yet. Several of them are amazing and among the best of the modern era

Following or Insomnia. As a technical director he's been improving greatly from his first films.

Dark Knight Rises isn't a "bad" film either imo. It just pales in comparison to The Dark Knight

It's grown on me over the years. Hardy is also an awesome villain.

He hasn't made anything close to a bad movie, but I think TDKR is my least favorite. It's a good movie but there are just too may glaring problems compared to his other works.

I really would love to have seen the treatment that Christopher Nolan and his brother came up with, had Heath lived.

Yeah. By a significant margin too. It's off kilter in tone - the "courtroom" scene vs Bane in general, has a weak main villain and reveal, has too many illogical moments, and some terrible editing.

Insomnia, while being a little plodding in pacing, is interesting and very well shot.

TDKR is a legit bad movie, I don't think anything else Nolan made is.

With that said, the opening is pretty stellar, it's just downhill from there.

He phoned it in. I really don't think he wanted to do it after Ledger died.

It really is.

It became too “cartoony” and threw the modicum of “realism” out of the window.

Yeah, stuff like the courtroom scene...I could have sworn I was watching a Schumacher movie.

The executives running the DCEU right now would kill for a film as good as that movie right now.
