Not GOAT, but easily the most underrated Disney movie ever. It still holds up very well today. I'm on the floor every time I watch it.
Not Disney, but The Road to El Dorado was really good, but more adult oriented. It has voices of Robert Kline, Armand Asante, Rosie Perez, Sir Kenneth Branch and Edward James Olmos. Also, an original song by Elton John. It was loosely based on the Bing Crosby/Bob Hope "Road" comedies.

Rosie played scheming hottie, Chel.

it is really good
It is really hard to say definitively which Disney movie is best ever made.

I think it is among the best of the recent modern era Disney films not based entirely on a fairy tale everybody knows. One of these nobody has mentioned in the posts here is Brave, which I thought was really good and entertaining; my granddaughter (almost 3) loves it. She loves Moana. And Tangled. She loves Beauty and the Beast. And Frozen. And Cinderella. And Snow White. And Little Mermaid. And Nemo. And Sleeping Beauty. And... etc.

To me Moana fits in well with the Disney parade of very entertaining cartoon/CGI films that have been the Disney trademark all along, and will find its place in the overall hiearchy as more come along.

I haven't seen it, but did see the previews at the theater. But I am going to take a shot at the plot -

The little girl and the big guy don't like each other initially.
Through common experiences they come to respect each other which increases to an unbreakable bond.
They are threatened by a common enemy or threat which they have to unite to defeat which they do.
Live happily ever after.

Is that about right?

It is good, but is not the best. The little children really like it, but it is a little bit boring for adults. Disney made more interesting movies, I guess.

Obviously, the Jungle Book is the best Disney film.

Moana has its strong points: gorgeous animation and a great songbook first and foremost, but I think people nailed it when they point out Moana has no character growth. Maui does, but it's all in his attitude towards Moana, so its hard to be invested in him.

I liked it, and I will fight whoever knocked the giant crab, as Jemaine from the Flight of the Conchords always brings it. Though I think Alan Tudyk, who is building a nifty resume of voiceover work, was largely wasted as a chicken.

Tangled is the primary beneficiary of the Frozen backlash, but that's because Frozen is so obviously the best Disney movie of the past decade, and the one that made a major cultural impact. Parents are sick of it and there's always the backlash when things get too popular. But Frozen is the crown jewel of modern Disney (though I do love Princess and the Frog)

Good movie, great main themesong which has well done reprisals, awesome animation, unknown storyline but not much depth.

I think overall it's a very solid film.

just watched moana, and while it isn't in the running for the best Disney movie ever, a legitimate argument can be made that it has the best overall soundtrack/songbook of any Disney movie, its that good.

I only remember “You’re Welcome” and “How Far I’ll Go”... and “Shiny” but that one was annoying. Its decent, but no “Little Mermaid” or “Beauty and the Beast” as far as the soundtrack is concerned. Hell, I think Coco this year had a better soundtrack.

It’s definitely one of the best. Much better than that Frozen bullshite. Though to be honest I wasn’t a big Frozen hater till they ruined the Maelstrom ride at Disney World thanks to that shitty movie.

I know I am in the minority but I think The Fox and the Hound is the best.

I agree, I don’t like shiny either, but we know the way is a good song and where you are is a great song. Overall, the music, and how it tied in with the story, was amazing.

I liked CoCo better than Moana

Aladdin and Lion King are the GOAT from my childhood, with Beauty and the Beast up there as well

My kids were young when these movies came out, so I associate them with so many happy memories of watching together and singing to the soundtracks in the car ... which may explain why I believe they are the best:

Lion King
Aladdin
Beauty and the Beast
Little Mermaid
Mulan

Every song in each of these was instantly memorable. Great story lines.
