I’ve seen it referenced here a couple of times and I’m intrigued.

It’s fantastic. As said, you must pay attention at all times. It’s not a background noise show or one you can watch if you have a lot of interruptions or you will get lost. One of the smartest tv series I have seen.

Absolutely!

As others have mentioned, it can be confusing. So don't get discouraged if some things don't make sense right away.

Also, Netflix made a really great website to help understand some of the more confusing aspects of the show and built in some protections to help keep it spoiler-free (e.g. you click on the season and then the episode and only character details through the episode you select will be revealed): Netflix Dark Website

No hyperbole, it’s the best show on Netflix. Put your phone in another room and keep the audio in German. Use the link above if you get confused because googling will lead to spoilers

Yes, but be clear in the mind when you do. Pay attention and don’t skip scenes.

Yes but watch it in German w/the subtitles on. Also make sure you are locked in. There is a lot going on and it can get pretty confusing at first. You won't want to have any distractions like computers or phones or kids or whatever going on while you watch.

Yep. Watching it season to season was a pain in the arse, because by the time the next one dropped I had basically forgotten everything, and had to do homework online to remember everything…and I was still lost most of the time.

Being able to go directly from seasons 1 to 2 to 3 is definitely the way to go.

My advice is to watch a movie called predestination starring Ethan Hawke. That movies plot line is insane but it will prepare you for “Dark”. The movie starts off really slow the first half then blows your mind the second.

It’s one of the best written shows from beginning to end that I’ve ever watched. The writers knew going in that it was only going to be 3 seasons. So they had the story completed before they started filming anything. They weren’t making it up as they went on.

I’ll put in another vote for you having to watch every single minute without any distractions. Even then you’ll be confused. But it’s a great show. Probably the best on Netflix.

On this board if you dare suggest using dubbing on a foreign show you're looked at as an unwashed uncultured dumbass with the IQ of a houseplant. NOt sure why the board loves drawing a line so viciously in the sand on that particular point.

You're exaclty right though. This is likely one of the most confusin adn "you HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION" shows on TV, so the suggestion is to now not only pay attention to everything going on and keep track of the myriad of characters and timelins but now you've gotta read every word people speak as well? It's illogical. There is absolutely nothing wrong with english dubbing. People will say "but the accents suck! You don't get the true "feel" of the actors without their native tongue!" Umm..ok? So the frick what? I'm trying to follow along with the story being presented to me, I don't really give the slightest frick if what my ears are hearing is in a language that I don't even understand to begin with.

I watched the first episode dubbed and hated it. 6 mos. later I watched the German language version and it was awesome. Easily one of my top 10 tv shows of all time.

Reading is not a chore and you may actually pick up details you missed with a shitty dub. My $0.02...

Because the Germans are better actors than the people just reading the lines
