The only good scene in the movie is the motorcycle chase through the college town.

The rest is shite.

After reading the OP all the way through, it has to be a troll.

Yes. Why does everyone think that a WWII era sub would run submerged if it didn't have to? Submarines from that time were not the sophisticated high tech vessels they are now. They would only dive when they were in enemy territory and wanted to evade detection or during battle.

KotCS is a shitshow of a movie that degrades the awesomeness that is the Indiana Jones franchise and should be stricken from the memories of all who suffered through it.

For those that say "turn off your brain, it's a popcorn flick" I'd say they've turned theirs off all too often and perhaps forgotten to turn them back on. Why not just go to the laundramat and watch the spin cycle? Shitty movies are shitty. They don't get a pass.

yea not being impossible doesn't mean it's "plausible", a lot of leaway in between those two.

The sub diving in Raiders is inexcusable, there's no defending it.

Watching Temple of Doom a month or so ago confirmed it was just as dumb as Crystal Skull.

In the 80's, the Indy stuff was fine, Crystal Skull would be a classic if it were released in 1986, instead it was 20 years later and audiences couldn't stomach it.

We'll get and Indy reboot pretty soon I imagine.

I try to look on the bright side and be as unpretentious as possible. I'm definitely not a hater. That movie sucked arse.

How very odd, an entire thread with no title and no content in any of the posts. It's almost like it never happened.

The movie was bad.
Bad Script
Bad Acting
Bad Direction
Bad Special Effects

And honestly in the original trilogy NONE of these were present

I can completely immerse myself in the "movie reality" concerning physics and basic science tenets but the entire movie was shite

Shia Labeouf swinging from vines like Tarzan with a group of monkeys. That scene wraps up how shitty this movie is.
And I'm definitely not a movie snob

This.

If you compare the first 3 movies with Crystal Skull.

A lot of stupid shite.

The idea was it was suppose to be campy and was.

The thing Lucas and Spielberg missed out on is audience's tastes had changed.

I wanted to like it too but couldn't. Maybe because the bar set by the other movies was so high that this one couldn't compete or..... it just simply sucked. I think it's the former rather than the latter but I remember for many years they were trying to get this movie going.. but the script called for Indy to discover the lost city of Atlantis. Then Spielberg stepped in and introduced the story of the actual movie that came out with the sci-fi angle and it really fell flat on its face. Shia LaBeauf was really shitastic, the villains were just terrible, and some of the scenes were just ridiculous. They're aiming for another Indy movie supposedly too in the future.... Just like in Star Wars, for the love of God, keep Lucas and Spielberg away from it if it happens..... seriously.

It was an awful movie. One of the worst I've seen in a theater.

what I hated about it was it seemed like Spielburg just gave up and said, I'm out of ideas, hell why don't I just combine the 2 themes that I like the most and make the hokiest damn movie I can possibly make.

He just combined ET/Close Encounters with Indiana Jones. He just gave up, it was un-imaginitive and it's only purpose was to support his cockamamie belief in space aliens

it was the worst movie in Western cinematic history

Considering he created the entire Star Wars universe, Willow, and Indiana Jones to begin with, I would think the creative input of George Lucas would be a very good thing.

it's kind of like that scene from billy madison...to paraphrase:

George Lucas now, or 1984?
