We don't watch Hallmark as much since finding the Great American Family network. There are no gay couples on it at all. Plus there are no gay commercials.

Sweet Home Alabama is the mold by which Hallmark Christmas movies were made.

Hot women
Pretty guys
some confusional conflict
a drug out resolution
a kiss
probably some snow
happily ever after.

Literally a tard could write these movies. I don't watch them but if you follow that recipe you can get half the people on the planet to watch them.

The new trend we're seeing is for traditional Hollywood types to eschew Tinseltown for the Hallmark movie industry, which is a creature in and of itself outside of the normal scene.

Hunter King, Candace Cameron-Bure, Lacey Chabert and Danica McKellar are the most obvious ones who come to mind. Probably tired of having to blow the Harvey Weinsteins of the world (or worse) just to keep doing their job.

You forgot that the plot is usually hinged upon some miscommunication or misunderstanding between protagonists.

I came home from a hunt, and the SO was watching The Secret: Dare to Dream with Katie Holmes and Josh Lucas. I had nothing better to do, so I sat and watched with her. While not a Hallmark movie, it fit one of the patterns to me. Takes place in La. too and features Middendorf's. I hate to admit it, but I kinda liked it despite absolutely terrible reviews.

Alternatives are:

1. Male protagonist with sad story. Someone died, parents losing business, etc.

2. Because of sadness, just hasn't been open to the right woman. Needs "joy" in his life again.

3. Usually a somewhat bitchy or money driven ex girlfriend who just wasn't who he really wanted.

4. Mother or Father who lost their spouse (his mom or dad) and wants him to be happy.

5. Piles of snow and sparkles! The best part and the main reason I watch. It's also why the ones with royals are the best. They have the best clothes and decorations.

Hallmark is the Abercrombie & Fitch of movies.

Surprised they haven't been woke cancelled.

Kinda the reverse. Candace Cameron Bure and some other actresses/actors apparently have left Hallmark for another entity started by the guy who used to be in charge of the Hallmark movies due to religious feelings about showing gay couples and such.

"One of our holiday traditions is to watch Hallmark movies but we like to watch them backwards. Last night we saw a beautiful young woman in jeans and a Christmas sweater dump her simple-living small town boyfriend and his Dog to pursue a high stress corporate law career in the big city wearing a business suit and uncomfortable shoes. A real success story."

and 100% of the time they choose to give up the high paying corporate job in the big city to move/return to the small town life where they can save the farm, store, house, etc...

Hallmark is like a porn studio. Same storylines recycled, often starring the same actress, with a different guy and a few tweaks to the story.
