I have no idea what the slave trade has to do with anything. But applying modern standards to it is pretty uptight. They did not consider 16-17 year olds “children” in the past like we do today, People would get married at young ages. it was also in Europe where they are not nearly as uptight about nude scenes as the US. There have been other European actresses that did nude scenes at that age into the 90s

There was this Bo Derek T&A movie that used to come on cable when I was a kid. Many years later when IMDB came along, I found out that the young fully nude girl in the movie was 14-year old Olivia d'Abo, who was the big sister on The Wonder Years.

Pretty Baby was controversial at the time. So were things like the Scorpions Virgin Killer cover. But you could still get away with it. Lots of things started tightening up around then, domestic abuse being another with The Burning Bed. I attribute it to 24 hour TV news getting people more informed and outraged.

Having lived in Italy off and on several times in my life, and having spent much time there since because my wife worked for Finn Mechannica for years ...I can tell you, teenage titties on TV are no big deal in Italy. Late night Italian TV is soft porn anyways.
