In the annals of cinema, Walter from Big Lebowski is the best supporting character ever.

You can't change my mind.

I’d give the nod to Clint Eastwood in “Any Which Way But Loose.”

I'm not gonna argue much because I love The Big Lebowski and Walter is awesome. The only other actor I can think of that might be as memorable in supporting roles would be Joe Pesci, pick a movie.

The narrator from Shawshank says "you're out of your element" and he says it in Morgan Freeman voice.
They didn't show Walter roll a bowling ball even once in TBL, he can't be the GOAT.

Goodfellas, "you're a funny guy" scene was outstanding.

You're hitting me hard here bc The Big Lebowski is my favorite movie ever, but I'll throw some candidates out there:
Al Pacino in The Godfather
Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now
Brad Pitt in Fight Club
Harrison Ford in the Trilogy
Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men
Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction

Walter was great, but I have always thought that the very underrated John Polito as Johnny Caspar in Miller's Crossing deserves this title.

I love The Big Lebowski, but as far as supporting characters go, Val Kilmer’s Doc Holliday in Tombstone is the GOAT.

For movies, it’s Walter Sobchak
For tv, it’s Stevie Janowski

Hans Landa is probably #1 for me in this category

This is similar to my feeling. Love Walter Sobchak and Lebowski. Doc Holiday is right there in Tombstone. I’d also say that Jackie Gleeson at Buford T. Justice might be there as well.

Paul Bettany steals every scene he’s in as Chaucer in A Knight’s Tale.
Hard to overlook Ledger’s Joker as well.
Both unfortunately dead, but Robin Williams and Alan Rickman had a knack for turning side characters into crowd favorites.
