That movie was fricking awesome.

That movie would be the shite.
Would also likely be in Greek, casting only Greeks.
Support.

People complain about some of the historical inaccuracies in that movie, but the attention to detail was incredible. Watch some of this.

He needs funding for his own studio so he can cover all the material that deserves to be made into feature films authentically but hasn’t because Hollywood has operated with an agenda for my entire life.

Remember his Viking project that was going to have Leo and be in Ole Norse and Ole English?
Posted on 7/9/26 at 11:38 am to SlowFlowPro
Nope, but the sounds like the shite.
Posted on 7/9/26 at 11:43 am to Scruffy
It got derailed after his dark times.
Then Leo refused to be part of it and lots of other Viking content got made, but it would have been great.
An Odyssey directed by Gibson would likely shite on this Nolan version.

I could only imagine.
Since we are talking about Gibson, and he does like to do his religious projects, could you imagine a Gibson rendition of Dante’s Inferno?
That could be amazing.

Gibson is a fantastic director, who has not received his due because he has said naughty words.

Aren't there rumors we will see Christ in Hell saving the captured souls?

Maybe, if he had gotten it off the ground 2005-10. Mel Gibson has been directing garbage since Apocalypto. I don't care that one of those turds got him a bunch of Oscar nominations.

Hacksaw Ridge is very well-praised, despite your objections.
The only other movie he directed during that time was Flight Risk, which I know nothing about.
I get the feeling that you are letting your political and personal opinions show through, something which you call people out for in the Odyssey threads.

Keep it that way. Trust me.

Yea, I looked it up and I have zero interest.
Jay Are just made it sound like Gibson has been “Nick Cage-ing” it up and doing all kinds of projects since 2006.
He has released two movies.

Is there anything on anyone stopping Mel Gibson, the Daily Wire, Paramount or WB owned by Ellison, or Elon Musk from making the Odyssey? No issue with copyright- is there an unseen force stopping any right winger from making their own perfect version?

Is there a point to your question?
I think Gibson would make a better version based on his previous movies.
Spielberg would make a shite version as he is pretty washed up and he would probably rely too heavily on CGI.
I wonder how Villeneuve would do with a historic epic like this. Based on the cinematography and pacing of Dune, I could see it being really well done.
If I had to pick a director for The Odyssey before this one was conceived, I probably wouldn’t have picked Nolan, but I just didn't really see the mythology epic as his type of movie.
It will probably be good, despite my objections to casting choices.
We can actually talk about things on the M/TV Board.

He has released two movies.
One of them being among the worst best picture nominees we've ever had, and there have been many bad ones. The other being among the worst major studio films released in the past 15 years.
Not good.
I would have called him a great candidate for this right after Apocalypto. I think that is no longer the case.
