God it is one of my favorite movies ever. So many excellent quotes.

“The Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world.”

The way that you wonder, is the way that you chose
The day that you tarry, is the day that you lose

I watched it for the first time several weeks ago at my mothers house on the Inspirational channel. 364 for the people that still have DirecTV. It was decent but it wasn’t on the level of Dances with Wolves or Open Range.

My favorite movie.

Ever get lonesome?

For what?

Woman?

Full time night woman? I never could find no tracks on a woman's heart. I packed me a squaw for ten year, Pilgrim. Cheyenne, she were, and the meanest bitch that ever balled for beads. I lodge-poled her at Deadwood Creek, and traded her for a Hawken gun. But don't get me wrong; I loves the womens, I surely do. But I swear, a woman's breast is the hardest rock that the Almighty ever made on this earth, and I can find no sign on it.

1972 been married less than a year, senior year at LSU, took my wife to see Jeremiah Johnson at the Saenger theater on Canal St. We both loved it.
I thought at the time that was the greatest movie I’d ever seen. After all this time, It’s still in top 5.

Watched it again just 2 weeks ago. Still enthralled.

I think a better question is which is better...

1. Jeremiah Johnson

2. Little Big Man

JJ is a totally different movie from LBM.

Both are great in their own right.

I like JJ better.

Del Gue’s goodbye is absolutely perfect.

I told my pap and mam I was going to be a mountain man; acted like they was gut-shot. "Make your life go here, son. Here's where the people is. Them mountains is for Indians and wild men." "Mother Gue", I says "the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world," and by God, I was right.

I ain't never seen 'em, but my common sense tells me the Andes is foothills, and the Alps is for children to climb! Keep good care of your hair! These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here! And there ain't no priests excepting the birds. By God, I are a mountain man, and I'll live 'til an arrow or a bullet finds me. And then I'll leave my bones on this great map of the magnificent.

It is simply not underrated and is loved by critics and audiences alike. Also, Little Big Man book is actually better than Little Big Man movie, which is also excellent. I never read Mountain Man (Jeremiah Johnson based on it). The Revenant is a far cry from both of these classic movies. I wold like to see a book true to Lord Grizzly (another book about the true story that Revenant is based on) with a quality director.

I like LBM well enough, particularly for Chief Dan George who's awesome in this, but Dustin Hoffman is annoying enough to nearly ruin it for me.
