You said the entirety of the MCU was worse than the dark knight trilogy and no comic books movies would ever be that good again.

You don't consider that "hardly an attack on Marvel"?

There are many people out there who consider Citizen Kane, a film that was released over 75 years ago, to be the pinnacle of filmmaking. Do you consider that opinion an attack on all the films that came after it?

Jesus, people, use your freaking heads. I was simply saying that The Dark Knight was the best movie in the genre. And unless the MCU changes up their formula, they won't ever be able to approach the level of quality Nolan's Batman films reached.

What genre?

The non-comic book movie genre?

That's actually not true. They planned for a shared universe starting with Green Lantern, but it was such a spectacular failure that they abandoned that plan.

Those people are stupid. That is probably the most overrated movie in this history of cinema. It might have been the best movie made when it was made, but its not the end all be all of the movie industry.

Absolutely. It immediately shuts down conversations when movie snob douche's repeat dumb shite like "well its no Citizen Kane". Same with idiots like you starting shite with the line "well its no Dark Knight".

You're smarter than that. Or at least I thought you were.

But really, the difference between MCU and DECU is simple: Marvel respects the source material and DC doesn't. DC films do everything they can to distance themselves from the comics, and ignore a half century worth of stories, while Marvel glories in their comic book nature, and lifts plots wholesale.

DC films are for people who don't like comic books. Which is fine, but an odd tact for a studio in the business of adapting comic books to the screen.

I think this nails it, tbh

Baloo always nails the simple core of the point.

They probably think you're stupid for having this opinion.

Tell that to those who work in the movie industry. They're the ones who generally hold that opinion. It was the movie industry who voted it #1 after all.

I've never had that happen to me.

And yet we're still having a conversation, aren't we? I think you're a little too hyperbolic for your own good.

Based on his posting history, he seems to be more of an overly emotional, dimwitted fanboy than a troll (see his pathetic flood of Tom Brady posts on the MSB).

*shhhhh*

You'll ruin his fantasy that Batman is the Alpha and the Omega of everything comic book.

See I think DC gets wrongfully blamed here. The problem is more WB than DC. Its a different situation than Marvel, which started their own studio.

It is in the case of Man of Steel. They abandoned plans for the shared universe after Green Lantern failed so epically. They had nothing drawn up or outlined when Snyder came in and told him his idea for the DCEU.

Bingo.

Warner Bros. is mostly to blame here. They are the ones who let Zack Snyder direct Batman v. Superman and Justice League (though I believe that particular film is becoming a Joss Whedon film more and more by the day).

One thing that Marvel Studios seems to do better than DC is to keep a lid on what they have in their early planning stages. I don't know if it's the Disney machine or if it's because Warner's plans are more fluid than Marvel Studios set-in-stone long term plans.

You don't hear much about ideas that Marvel passed on, or that never came to fruition (other than the Inhumans debacle).

The phrase "shitty opinion" implies a belief in a lack of intelligence to me. But what do I know? I'm just a DC fanboy.

That's another shittty opinion. If I wanted to call you stupid, I would. Your opinion on a movie, regardless of my opinion of your opinion, is just an opinion.
