it seems like they just skipped over a bunch of shite. i kind of enjoyed the show but a lot of it seems like fluff/unaswered after seeing it all.
i was left with a lot of questions im not sure if i care if they are answered lmao.
wtf was up with the sheriff and the buffalo and natives? how did she get time sucked?
what was the point of the mountains disappearing?
how/why did amys mom return and they both disappear?
how is autumn amy, why did she say nice to finally meet you royal?
what was the point of the royal falling in the hole scene?
why did the hole disappear, but was laughable able to be dug up?
theres other questions but yall get the point.

I agree. Lotta things just don’t make sense. They are trying to be too clever with symbolism & things just happening for dramatic effect.
No way Autumn doesn’t get pounded into tomato paste underneath a heard of stampeding bison.

the buffalo were moving royals truck like it was a plastic chair, but the dude he shots truck just inched along. the scene where hes under it crawling was cool, but was a little silly considering how royals truck was getting moved.

I still don't really know what's happening, although there was a smidge of a reveal with Autumn/Amy. Hope it comes back for another season. It's a strange show but I'm enjoying the mystery.

The autumn/Amy thing was so telegraphed that it seemed too obvious for it to actually happen in the show. Kind of takes the show down a notch for me. Still good television though. I'll keep watching.
Digging to find the hole seemed a little dumb. So the hole is physically alive and just hides itself in the earth. Kind of interesting I guess.

This wasn't a very good first season. Just all over the place and trying to be mysterious, but left way too many questions and I'm not sure if I even care what happens next.
And what a dick move by Perry for jumping in the hole when he knew the ranch was put up for his bail. He peaced out and left his family for ruin
Yeah, that was dumb that it can be dug up. The "matter" looked like oil bubbling up so I guess the writers were trying to symbolize the two families fighting over oil rights. Whatever.

Didn’t Autumn say she had no memories before the age of 9? Something like until she got to the ranch and some things are coming back. Perhaps she doesn’t know Royal is her grandfather.

That’s has to be it. Rebecca came back a few scenes later. As if one goes in and then another returns. Who knows? It is the only way I see him leaving Amy alone.

I thought the first four set the show up nice. The last four were a little sloppy and started feeling like they were just throwing weird shite in for the sake of it. They got a little messy.
Autumn character is starting to have a mary sue feel and is becoming pretty unlikeable. Survived a stampede of 1000 buffalo. Come on.

Hey everyone, just finished this show last night and was hoping there was a discussion. I quite enjoyed season 1. As a huge David Lynch fan, I'm digging the Twin Peaks meets Yellowstone kinda vibes.
I also think it's important to remember that this isn't the kind of show where everything is meant to be answered and a lot is left up to interpretation. At the same time, it does seem as though they left the door open just enough to get a season 2.

The black stuff “runs out” of power which may explain why the hole can disappear. Also if you spread it in a line like the sheriff was walking on it appears to act different. Like you can walk into a new time.
I forget names but was that the black stuff the singing son was putting on his dad’s face? So he could see the future I guess.
Royal going in the hole allowed him to see that he was supposed to die in the shootout is what I gathered. He says he wants to change that and I guess he does.
So far with time travel people are only traveling anywhere from a few years to decades which seems like a lot but its only a blip of time overall. When the mountain disappears maybe we are seeing what it looked like in a time before it was created?
Also Im thinking there’s something up with the bears. We were led to believe they were mother and baby but now you have to think it’s the same bear in a show like this.

haha i appreciate that. I mean its really impossible to address the questions, they barely gave us anything to make a conclusion.
how did it run out of power, if it was dug up and buffalo herds came out?
I was completely lost with the sheriff lol.
is the hole the future or the past? sheriff went like a century to the past, but royal went both like 100 years and a couple to the future? amy came from the future to the past. the buffalo came from the past to the future. the mountains would have had to be millenia type of time frame, and amy/autumn was like a decade and change.
I thought the hole was more like an alternate dimension which may explain people dont age within the hole like trevor/royal so pretty much the only conclusion is time spent in one side of the hole does not apply to the other, although the main timeline progresses. but if trevors body didnt change between the hole, why was royal's body still shot when he got back?
i do agree the bear and the buffalo were probably the same ones from future/past versions. this seems even weirder bc i think the buffalo on the wall was the same one with arrows which was also probably in the pastwhen the sheriff visited

It looked like he was digging in different spots from the hole. He found some fresh stuff and out came the buffalo. If you touch the black stuff it seems to allow you to see in the future but not take you there. But it doesn’t seem to give you permanent power which is why I said it runs out. So if enough things use the hole it closes. I also think maybe Amy pushed Royal in the hole because she hoped it would close and leave him stranded there. They seemed to be waiting for him and his wife told him he had to go back. They kind of explained Trevor’s body. Apparently the hole took him like 4 days into the future. They didn’t find his body the first time because they hadn’t caught up with it yet timewise. Which is why it seemed to just appear. It seemed fresh because it skipped over that time.
I don’t think it’s alternate universe but I see why you would think that. It’s time travel and things are being changed by the time travelers so it only seems like alternate universe when it’s more alternate timeline.

I don't think the hole always takes you on the same time jump. I'm wondering if Perry went back to the 1800's. Maybe he'll stop Royal from killing his father. Hell, maybe he is Royal's father. They both seem to have weird relationship.
