Oh yeah. Damn good point.

HBO has financial woes? Know what a good remedy for that is? A huge hit show.
While I don't disagree, Zaslav doesn't give a frick about any of the HBO properties sadly. I wouldn't be surprised if we see this with other properties once they hit a threshold that he doesn't want to bother with anymore.
He'd be content if HBO was just full of My 600 lb Life type shows. They're cheap to produce and make him money.

I just can't suspend enough belief to imagine that she gets there. Right after Aemond closed the bay off from any ships moving in/out too.
He didn't close them off. He said nothing passes without being inspected. Who is going to tell Alicent "no, you can't pass through here?"
She also didn't smuggle her way secretly onto Dragonstone. She gave herself up upon arrival.

How many eyes does Bloodraven have?
A thousand eyes and one…err two actually.
Apparently he isn’t one-eyed because they thought people would think it was Aemond.

Imagine the writers room for the finale
“Ok everyone we are going to blow the viewers mind for the season finale to really tie it all together … 2 words… mud. Wrestling.”

I absolutely believe Aemond would keep her from leaving the port. Not a chance he lets her through that blockade. There's a reason she went to the Grandmaester in order to get assistance to get out.

It would have been a great penultimate episode, but as a finale is was sorely lacking. From the reduction to 8 episodes instead of 10 it sounds like more of behind the scenes interference. I can't believe the showrunners would choose to pace the season this way. If they did, they failed. I'm not a bookreader, but from the sounds of the reaction, at least the start of the Gullet would have been appropriate as a cliffhanger.

Also that Night King looked like a giant nerd. I laughed out loud when I saw him. He looks scared.

I'm assuming it was all due to budgetary reasons, so it's not like they could cut down from 10 episodes to 8 and still put in things that make sense like the Battle in the Gullett or the Fall of KL. I don't see how anyone thought this was going to be good though, which I'm assuming is why GRRM basically said frick this after last week's episode, and is not going to be involved in season 3.

Season review. Interesting personal drama at times. But ultimately boring. One battle all season! Other than that one episode, every important event happens off screen. Boring. Disappointingly boring.

Also, we also only got a brief glance at Daeron's dragon with the Hightower's marching. After he was heavily mentioned this season.
We couldn't have even got some facetime there? Something?

They haven’t cast him yet.

That's even dumber to be honest. We get all of 5 minutes of Cregan Stark this season but we can't get that for Daeron?

Just a few other things:
Lohar did not land with me. Not intimidating enough to pull of a boisterous yob. She's no Yara Greyjoy or Euron either for that matter.
What the hell was that creature with antlers right before Daemon's vision at the Godswood? Anything to do the the 3 eyed Raven? It was only on screen for a second but it was there.

Me either. She is supposed to be the leader of fierce pirates and to me they made the pirates come off as a bunch of dipshits.

To me if they knew they were gonna be short on time given they were only going to have 8 episodes then why spend so much god damn screen time in Harrenhal? None of that is mentioned in the books, Daemon just goes there and pulls together an army so it wasn't necessary. They could have gotten the same point across in a quarter of the screen time and then used the additional space to move the story along in other areas.
It just seems like every liberty they are taking from the lack of specifics from the books is a waste of time and a net negative for the show. They make Rhaenyra look indecisive, Jace looks like a whiny brat, Daemon is a shell of his season 1 self, Alicent is a dumb entitled bitch, Criston Cole is an emo sack of shite, etc. Not one time have they filled in the gaps of the book and made it a better story.

agree with everyone on the finale, that was a lot of build up for nothing. and threading the show back to the very worst and most reviled aspect of GoT was certainly a choice. had daenerys actually "saved the realm" it would be logical, but...
The whole Aegon's dream thing is silly. You didn't have a united Seven Kingdoms when the White Walkers were defeated in S8. You didn't even have a Targaryen on the throne at that point.
