I’m expecting the same amount of progress in tonight’s episode that I’ve come to expect this season.
If you didn't see the progress made this season that's a you problem. I do think HBO could've done a better job appealing to casual viewers that just wanted some humor and dragon fights but acting like nothing happened all season is just stupid.

The whole point is that if you're going to have a slow burn TV show you need to have people care about the characters. They've tried to be too "fair" for a lack of a better word, and in doing so left people not really caring a whole lot about either side. You have to have some sort of "villain" in the story for people to root against, instead they've tried to let you see both sides of the story from the beginning. Look at GoT, people hate the Lannisters, now that doesn't mean that there weren't redeeming qualities for some of those characters (Tyrion for instance), but in general you rooted against them. Later in the series you can see why they did what they did and some have character arcs where maybe you even feel bad for them at times (Jamie), or at least understand their motivations (Tywin). The lack of character development is a way bigger problem than "hurr durr I want more dragons", though if they are going to suck at character development they could've at least progressed the story at a faster pace.
ETA: I have to comment again as I'm still in my re-watch of GoT. The chess match with Little Finger and Varys manipulating the Lannisters regarding the marriage of Sansa, and Tywin throwing in the surprise to Cersei that she'll have to marry Loras (though we know that doesn't happen), is just so much better story telling than anything that is going on in HotD. It just seems like everyone in HotD stupid compared to the people in GoT, and it's not because the characters are supposed to be stupid, it's because of bad writing.

What was the board consensus on this season? I just finished it, and quite honestly that was the worst single season I can remember watching recently. NOTHING HAPPENED ffs.
I remember really enjoying season 1, but this entire season was a bore, and the final episode was just awful. There isn’t a single character I really care about. GoT always had interesting characters, both good & bad, but HoD characters suck. Daemon is maybe the only one I find somewhat interesting, and he was hidden away all season with fever dreams.

That about sums it up.

People who think this was the worst season of tv ever need to stink to Mike and Molly and eating boogers.

I don't really understand the want for Aegon's Conquest for a show. On the surface, it sounds awesome, but when you dig in from story standpoint, it doesn't make a ton of sense. There weren't a ton of problems the Targaryen's faced, there weren't betrayals. It was just a lot of, "Oh yeah, they have dragons". Some realized it early and some didn't.

yeah, especially when u consider it seems HBO wants to spend less on showing dragons, the conquest makes even less sense

Also, the outcome is obvious to anyone with a small knowledge of the GOT world. At least with HOTD, most people that aren't super into the world that GRRM built don't know how it ends. You know the Targaryens kept ruling after the Dance, but it really could be either side winning.

He can get fricked with his self-righteousness. If he wanted full control of how it was produced and written, then he should've negotiated that when he agreed to allow HBO to create the on screen properties. The second season absolutely had its issues, but I'm well done and over GRRM blaming everyone else for it not getting done how he likes while he lines his pockets and twiddles his thumbs.
He can also stop spending time writing whiney arse blogs and, I dunno, FINISH ASOIAF.

If the blog post isn’t just a picture of him, he doesn’t understand the problem.

Now if the issue is Max/Discovery admin fricked the writers and the show by pulling out the funding rug under them in the middle of making the show, then by all means speak about that to the public.
But we all know he's going to hem and haw about how he would've done it differently. Knowing he's the king of turning over his properties to TV productions then not liking how it's done because HE doesn't want to do the work himself.

From what ive read online, two things happened.
Thanks to its mountain of debt, Discovery whacked alot of money from HBO and told it to cut two elisodes.
Production started during writers strike. They couldnt fix the scripts so the season was shot kn a rough draft
Doesnt explain the porr plot decisions and bland characters.

This I can understand, but it’s still bullshite. Why are you are trying to create multiple spinoff shows if you can’t even afford one? If their plan is to show one a year and rotate between spinoffs, potentially making it 3-4 years between seasons of the same show, they will lose a lot of interest.
