This show is picking up steam fast. Gotta laugh at all the people saying they wouldn’t watch, or it wouldn’t be good. Off to a fantastic start.

can't blame the king for wanting to pound Alicent. especially given the other option.

looks like shite is gonna get real starting next episode and this sea snake/daemon partnership intrigues me.

Uh yeah seems like it since Coryls seems to teaming up with Dameon now. shite is about to pop off wonder if we will still be getting the tradition of episode nine being the big event episode. First major battle or the death of Viserys is my guess

The King strikes me as someone who is a good man. As the book stated, he is not a warmonger nor does he seek conquest. He treats others as he wishes to be treated. Louis XVI and Nicholas II were fundamentally good men, lacking the ruthlessness they needed to survive their positions.

Unfortunately, the GRRM universe punishes good people without mercy and the King will be no exception. It is more the world of Star Trek's mirror universe than it is of true civilization.

Agreed the whole event was insanity. Why the king would send them expecting anything other than their deaths is beyond me as is why Hightower would suggest going. There was no chance that was ending any other way than all of their deaths by dragon if Rhaenyra hadn’t showed up.

Agree and glad she showed up but that had a dash of deus ex which I thought GOT abused at the end.

Good episode and looking forward to next week.

I see why the hand sent his daughter to the king's room after his wife and child died. Last week i just thought it was weird but now i see he was plotting. Olivia Cooke looks different for some reason i been watching her since Bates motel.

They're really moving the story along fast this season. It looks like next wk the king has a son that's 2 yrs old. And it looks like we're gonna get a dope arse battle on that crab beach soon.

You’re eyes haven’t deceived you. Alicent is played by two actresses. The one right now is Emily Carey. Olivia Cooke will play older Alicent.

Because killing the Kings Hand and Kinsguard would be a pretty heinous crime in the eyes of the king and small council and would be an excuse to get rid of Daemon IMO. Also Otto clearly has it out for Daemon and wanted to control the narrative of how the king feels.

He was banking on his daughter banging the king. That's probably why he told her to do it while he was about to leave.

Olivia Cooke looks about the same age as the one playing her right now

so it was a suicide mission?
wherein he, several kings guard and the maester sacrifice themselves to make daemon look bad?

It was a cool scene and all but it didn’t make any sense. What it did do was drive home the fact that the King cannot rule without a dragon.

Without dragons a Targ is just like everybody else. It's already been said this series.

Previous poster nailed it about the king. He's a good man, fair, decent, and that is viewed as weak and will get you killed in this world. Add to that his dragon is dead.

A lot of dragons still left though and the mention of Vhagar I hope means we may see that beast of Legend.

The time jumps do not bother me as I think they are setting up the season well for the big events. Curious how they handle the upcoming battle as it is a long one in the books.

Also Corlys Velaryon may not have a dragon but his wife does though, the Queen that never was.

Really like everything so far.

Where did the meeting with Corlys and Daemon take place at the end? Were they in Kings Landing or Dragonstone?
