I also thought it moved fine, and didn't seem to drag too much for a 3 hour deal.

Of course, 6:20- 9:40 is a long time to sit, with previews and all.

I did like that the movie just "started" right away.

Not everyone’s personality is defined by their political views. It might just be a legitimate mess of a movie like many are saying. As someone who used to get paid to write movie reviews, I would urge anyone to absolutely ignore the opinions of these people. A lot of the top critics are being paid by the studios anyway, which I’m sure most of you already assume.

I have been looking forward to this and plan to go next week.

Lord of the rings, Star Wars, etc etc were all planned multiple event movies but each movie stands alone

This simply doesn’t and I’m afraid it’s going to bomb because of it

So the top critics were paid by new line and Warner to give Horizon extremely tepid, mixed reviews?

None of those movies were releasing part 2 a few weeks after part 1

I loved this movie

We don’t get these huge grandiose epics anymore

Sure it’s not the best movie I’ve ever seen or best western but that whole “ going west” is so fascinating

Those people had it hard as hell. I’ve read several books on the topic

Like “ age of gold” “blood and thunder” “ dreams of el dorado”

All are really fascinating about the subject

I like this whole 4 part modern “ how the west was won”

The setting and scenery were breathtaking

Well said. I loved it but went in knowing it wouldn’t be the full story all in 3 hours. And to another poster’s point, my theatre had old talkative viewers all over the place

We had one old woman behind us that seemed to think the movie would be 45 minutes long. After that point, every time the movie would switch to a different group of characters she would loudly sigh. She was the only person that clapped at the end though so I’m not sure what her problem was.

There was probably 20 people in my 1:45 screening and seriously I Think I was the youngest in there by 20-30 years

It was an AARP gathering in there

3/4 look to be derailed
I guess a streaming service will give Costner a lifeline to see this thing through

film – certainly a Western – needs to have a plot, a bit of credible characterisation, and a structure that preferably includes a beginning, middle and end. Horizon doesn't have any of those.

Isn’t it like lonesome dove with more than just 1 part but several parts.

So... go see it if I have nothing else to do or wait for streaming?

Is it at least a good way to kill 3 hours without feeling like you wasted 3 hours?

Yea, but lonesome dove was a tv special not the big screen

I am super excited and went to the 9pm showing Friday to watch this. And I loved it

But this is going to be a failure in every sense of the word in terms of money made compared to budget

I love Lonesome Dove (<——-) and was super excited to see this one! I too felt like the youngest one in there this afternoon.

I went solo while my wife and daughter went visit her family in Lafayette. I had to leave a few minutes early, so I hope I didn’t miss much. Ready for the next part.
