Great idea for a character, terrible execution.

I think this storyline is interesting. What's disturbing is that these days, it doesn't seem outlandish.

the accent is awful. why would they cast an English actor for a guy supposedly from the Deep South?

It totally doesn’t. You couldn’t me more correct.

What is the backstory on CoS Wellington? The POTUS said she pulled him off the political scrap heap
Posted on 2/19/18 at 9:49 am to supatigah
so Carrie told us Wellington's backstory
Carrie in the warehouse with the 4Chan guy that coincidentally lives near her was pretty funny. I told my wife that Carrie is a trained CIA operative that has had extensive hand to hand self defense training, she is going to beat this dude's arse.
O'Keefe and the militia vs the FBI in the next episode will be interesting, some Ruby Ridge/Waco type shenanigans
POTUS Keane and COS Wellington are being set up on the General's death

Not gonna lie, Homeland has become disappointing to me. The trailer for next episode looks stupid the O’Keefe supporters look like they take Saul, the damn National Security Advisor, hostage. We’ll see, I’ve watched this far I feel like I gotta finish but it’s just not what it used to be.
And Keane is approaching Skyler White levels of hatred for me

how many times has saul been abducted or captured? he is the worst CIA field operative ever

Not a bad episode, but come on. That Carrie computer hacking scene was cringeworthy. Was that 10 minute story necessary?
What purpose did it serve?

that very special story line was the 100th time they have showed us Carrie can be reckless
they are setting up yet another Crazy Carrie saves the world

Exactly what I said to mine, this dude is about to get his arse whipped
It's angling toward a civil war type conflict. I find it to be entertaining because some of the themes are uncomfortably tracking our current political climate pretty closely.

If Saul went out for a loaf of bread you’d find him tied up a week later in a closet at bunny bread .
The series totally fricked itself with the woman President and then the Deep State being somehow Constitutionalists . You have to flip the Universe to buy the premise . But what can they do, right?
I’m still in. Carrie getting implied naked and doing the sexy talk kind of tweaked me. Didn’t expect that , lol .

I still watch it every week, occasionally it is really good.
But I'm still waiting for the day someone allows a smart, long running show on anti-terrorism to survive without cluttering it with mentally deranged protagonists (Homeland), dumb family drama (The Unit), inflated and unrealistic far-right plotting (Homeland, Berlin Station), etc.
Not anti-terror, but I guess I should give The Americans some credit here.

It was great right up until the moment Carrie uncovered her camera and started seducing the 4chan loser. From that moment on, the episode wrote itself.

I laughed at the kek post on 4chan. The deus ex machina of the 4chan guy being local just threw the rest of that storyline in the shitter for me.
The dumb local LEOs siding with the terrible rendition of Alex Jones is cliche and dumb. As is the whole Alex Jones character.
I hate Carrie's sister and there really are no interpersonal characters at all, much less interesting ones.
Really no one is very interesting or likeable or even hatable (except for Carrie's sister). More just indifference
And every episode lately has had pretty shitty pacing, relying on a cliffhanger to entice you to watch next episode. Which I keep doing so I guess it works. But meh.

Another thing
Does no one recognize Carrie? She has to be famous by now right? Brodie? Berlin? Saving the first female POTUS?

I don’t mind this storyline really, but the complete lack of character development is frustrating. You felt something about Brody, Quinn, early seasons Carrie, Saul, hell even Max. Now there is nothing.

That crossed my mind.
Seems like this year is going to be another tear 'Crazy Carrie' down only to have her save the day again.

I guess I've just stopped taking the show seriously, and the 4chan malware thing fit in with its increasingly farcical nature.
And it wasn't just the coincidence of the internet creep living right there. The "Carrie's lithium is becoming ineffective, so she is going to do more things no CIA ("former" or current) would ever do" thing is an equally uncompelling and tiresome plot device.
The first few seasons made you want to suspend disbelief without even knowing it. Brodie and Quinn and Saul were all complicated characters, and their relationships with Carrie were suspenseful and compelling.
That's tough writing to keep up, especially while weaving compelling plots, arising out of complex characters and relationships.
The show just devolved into a transient conspiracy-theory- plot-driven cliffhanger, trying too hard to create suspense and intrigue.
