He told Costner that he had signed up for a Taylor Sheridan show, not a Kevin Costner production.
Somewhat unbelievable line.

Costner, both star and executive producer, was pushing Bentley to ditch Taylor Sheridan’s script and play the moment his way. Bentley refused. He told Costner that he had signed up for a Taylor Sheridan show, not a Kevin Costner production.
Sheridan's writing sucked after the first couple seasons.

None of this should surprise anyone. This has been Costner his entire career. He’s a douchebag, and I could rarely watch any of his movies growing up because of it.

Yea that never happened

Complete opposite of the rumors floating around in real time
Sheridan was dragging his arse getting material written in order to shoot. Costner needed to move forward to be able to complete his own projects before he died, but Sheridan was becoming too full of himself. To the point that he incorporated parts of Horizon into the show, while holding Costner hostage to a continually moving shooting schedule
Costner was done at that point. And wanted out. So he walked. And thats why Sheridan wrote the final season with a weak arse John Dutton
Costner might of been unbearable, but he had reasons. And to throw up to his face that he should essentially just defer to Sheridan, likely did piss him off

My favorite Costner diva story is him insisting that Alan Rickman's lines/scenes be cut down in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves because Rickman was stealing the show.
Which is kind of funny because Kevin Costner felt he was being overshadowed after Alan Rickman went through to rewrite/add some additional dialogue/nuance to the script for Robin Hood.
Alan Rickman admits editing 'terrible' script with friends in Pizza Hut behind backs of writers on Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Sometimes a actor can help a production by making some changes/suggestions. But it's a delicate line between being helpful and being a douchebag.

Apparently he’s something of a grouchy diva and wants to run the sandbox in any project.

Not that it matters but I always thought Wes was the worst actor in the show.

The show sucks
...and it's not because of Costner. I have heard that he wanted off the show during season two because it was so damn unbelievable.
It appears to have been written by a horny high school adolescent.

I mean, he was pretty good in Fandango.

Yellowstone completely went off the rails when Beth survived a bomb exploding right in front of her.
It was getting rocky before that, but the bomb scene sealed the deal.
I hope Landman doesn’t jump the shark so fast.

It's an impressive feat to be mediocre in every way and still manage to be an exceptional a-hole
yet Brian Kelly and Costner have managed to nail it.

I talked to a guy who had a very brief part in The Guardian. Said Costner was extremely nice to everyone, like made a DVD for all the cast and crew (outtakes, gatherings, etc.)
Untouchables was good, that’s all I got.
