lot of recency bias in the depths of that list
no Beverly Hillbillies?
Thank you!!! There's very few shows from the 90s up that are anywhere close to the golden age of television comedy - the 70s. "All in the Family", "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "The Odd Couple", "Sanford and Son" were all better. In the case of the Norman Lear shows, they were culturally groundbreaking, too.
The big comedies from the 60s - "Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Andy Griffith Show" - have more claim to the top 10 than "Friends" does.

Friends at number one?

This poll is strictly about favorite shows, the programs people in Hollywood hold nearest to their hearts

even if one or two of the programs listed here aren't exactly masterpieces of the medium.
Everyone seems to be struggling with this. There's a reason for bias towards recent, more popular shows.

Cult of the new all up in this list. And even as a Lost-dissenter, it might deserve a spot in the Top 10 over GoT, Mad Men and Breaking Bad.
LOST is one of the Top 10 greatest shows of all time. Yes, we talk a lot online about GoT and Breaking Bad, but who started that? No show has been talked about like that before or since, and when LOST dipped in quality, it always managed to redeem itself magnificently by the end of the season. The series finale, while heavily divisive, is one of the most memorable of all time and ended exactly how it needed to. It's in the Top 10 almost indisputably.

MASH not in Top 10 is criminal. Should be at least Top 5.

I really don't like friends at all and never have. The sitcom format in general isn't something that blows me away.

I'm a little upset Bones wasn't on it but Castle was. I think both are equal.

I was just about to post the same reaction. That was one funny funny show.

The Office at #31? Hahahah.
I personally hate Friends, I think it is a bad show and Phoebe is the worst TV character of all time. Having said that I can see how people would like it but to say it's # 1 ahead of Seinfeld, The Office, Arrested, or Married with Children even for best comedy is a joke much less #1 over all.

No Cheers, Fringe, Community or SBTB?

Friends is GOAT and I can live with that. Really consistent show

Friends is not better than Seinfeld, but it's a good list overall. I have Simpsons high, just because if you are a fan who watched from the beginning you see how many other shows borrowed episodes from them.

Game of Thrones it's far, far too early to put it in the Top 5 series of all time, especially considering last season. Really just seems to be a popularity list
Was thinking that too. How can you put a show that is still running in the top ten?
Posted on 9/19/15 at 5:28 pm to Bench McElroy
10. "The Simpsons"
Yes, deserves Top 10.
9. "Mad Men"
Arguable, but could be Top 10.
8. "I Love Lucy"
I could see this show representing the Golden Age of TV in this list.
7. "Saturday Night Live"
Yes.
6. "The Sopranos"
Should be way higher on the list.
5. "Seinfeld"
Way too low on this list.
4. "Game of Thrones"
Shouldn't be on the list.
3. "The X-Files"
Love the show, but maybe towards the bottom of the 10.
2. "Breaking Bad"
No way this should be at #2.
1. "Friends"
No. Not even a Top 10 show.
Programs that could've made this list:
All in the Family
M*A*S*H
Andy Griffith
Dick Van Dyke
And if Friends gets #1 by sheer popularity, then so should:
Dallas
Beverly Hillbillies
Gunsmoke
Bonanza
Batman
Yes, deserves Top 10.
9. "Mad Men"
Arguable, but could be Top 10.

Yeah, and GoT hasn't changed anything. It's just capitalizing on what past shows have done, particularly LOST, and trying to take it further. Even if GoT ends spectacularly, I don't see how you can make an argument it's the 4th greatest series of all time. The true greats change the medium as a whole, and GoT simply doesn't, as much as I love it.
