Hollywood Reporter 100 greatest TV shows of all-time

What's the best TV show of all time? Who knows? This poll is strictly about favorite shows, the programs people in Hollywood hold nearest to their hearts — that remind them of better times or speak to their inner child or inspire their creativity or just help them unwind after a crappy day at the studio — even if one or two of the programs listed here aren't exactly masterpieces of the medium.
Last year, THR published the world's first movie list based on a polling of Hollywood pros. This year's TV survey was handled in a similar fashion. We asked more than 2,800 industry people — including 779 actors, 365 producers and 268 directors, among others — to choose their favorite series of all time (excluding talk shows and news programs). Although the survey was anonymous, some big names were willing to go on the record. "My favorite is Twin Peaks," says Damon Lindelof, co-creator of Lost (No. 15 on the list, five above David Lynch's mystery). "It quite literally changed the way my brain worked." Mike Hopkins, CEO of Hulu, picks The Sopranos (No. 6). "It's just classic. It had everything," he says. But even when respondents didn't volunteer their own identities for the public, the results of this survey are full of surprises, starting with the show Hollywood chose as its all-time No. 1 favorite.
Top 10
10. "The Simpsons"
9. "Mad Men"
8. "I Love Lucy"
7. "Saturday Night Live"
6. "The Sopranos"
5. "Seinfeld"
4. "Game of Thrones"
3. "The X-Files"
2. "Breaking Bad"
1. "Friends"

Not a horrible top ten. The order could be debated, but not horrible.

Friends over seinfeld is inexcusable.

I saw this yesterday. Not a bad road map for folks like me looking to watch series they've never seen before. Agree with a lot of them. BB & GOT are 1 and 1a IMO

Seinfeld at 5
Sopranos not in top 5
The Wire not in top 10
And Friends at 1

Friends is legit. But not better than Seinfeld

This is a shite list. You can not rationally debate on how Friends is not only a better show than Breaking Bad, but the greatest show of all time. Orange is the New Black is a position higher than the Wire. They make up bullshite on LOST on Dharma being on the plane from the Pilot saying they planned it from the beginning. Game of Thrones it's far, far too early to put it in the Top 5 series of all time, especially considering last season. Really just seems to be a popularity list, and a shitty one at that. Horrible list.

In order for a series to rationaly be in the Top 10, the series has to be finished. You have to see the complete work in order to know this. I love GOT, but it should be 15 tops from what we know of it.

Can't argue with this.

I've watched every episode of Entourage multiple times, it should not be around any list like this.

It's #30, which makes this list even more laughable. And it puts Orange is the New Black as 29. I'd love to hear the debate for this show being that high. It may be worthy of the Top 100, but nothing higher than 95.

It was talking about people's favorite shows. I don't think that many people have seen The Wire.

agree ... GoT is a nice little show, but it's not a top 10 show now or in the future ... not even close ... certainly not better than Mad Men, Sopranos, or Seinfeld ...

I don't see Days on there.
This must just be nighttime programming only right?

GoT in the top ten when (1) it isn't even over and (2) the most recent season was anything but exceptional
