Upon reading, a person could survive 15 seconds of space..
quote:
Could you really survive outer space without a suit?
quote:
Yes, for a very short time. The principal functions of a spacesuit are to create a pressurized, oxygenated atmosphere for astronauts, and to protect them from ultraviolet rays and extreme temperatures. Without it, a spacewalker would asphyxiate from the lack of breathable air and suffer from ebullism, in which a reduction in pressure causes the boiling point of bodily fluids to decrease below the body's normal temperature. Since it takes a bit of time for these things to kill you, it's possible to make it through a very quick stint in outer space.
quote:
At most, an astronaut without a suit would last about 15 seconds before losing conciousness from lack of oxygen. (That's how long it would take the body to use up the oxygen left in the blood.) Of course, on Earth, you could hold your breath for several minutes without passing out. But that's not going to help in a vacuum. In fact, attempting to hold your breath is a sure way to a quick death. To make it for even a few seconds, Sunshine's Mace must have expelled the air from his lungs before he ventured into the starry void. If he hadn't, the vacuum would have caused that oxygen to expand and rupture his lung tissue, forcing fatal air bubbles into his blood vessels, and ultimately his heart and brain. Scuba divers are also at risk for air embolism; they're instructed not to hold their breath as they ascend from the deep sea.
An astronaut who fell unconscious from lack of oxygen would last for a few minutes more before dying from asphyxiation or the effects of the pressure reduction. Ebullism would result in the formation of bubbles in the moisture found in the eyes, mouth, and skin tissue. One NASA test subject who survived a 1965 accident in which he was exposed to near-vacuum conditions felt the saliva on his tongue begin to boil before he lost consciousness after 14 seconds.

It's not high minded. I've cited information that is pretty well known in the Star Wars universe and you are choosing to be obstuse to that infomation because that's pretty much you r shtick on this forum.

Only thing I can think of is they wanted to make sure absolutely nobody knew about it just in case they had a traitor among them
And from her perspective, what happens immediately after Poe learns of the plan? The first order starts shooting the escape pods.
So why wasn’t he executed again?

because the Death Star wasn't just a weapon. It was a mobile headquarters for the Empire. Having that is a lot more efficient and cost friendly than building a shite ton of ships to just fly into planets
His point was about the rebels just sending an empty ship into hyperspace through the deathstar, destroying it.

This is one mistake Rian Johnson and Kathy (whatever her name is) admitted immediately

I like how del toro makes a deal
Well give you lots of money for actionable information
Instead of
We won’t paint the walls with your brains if you give us actionable information
Then he’s sitting there with tons of money about to leave and they discover he told them the truth. Now maybe it’s just me, but you’d think the evil bad guys would just kill him right there...instead they’re like “hey can I help you load my money onto your ship?”

He didn't sell it to the first order, he sold out the plan to disable their tracking. The First Order figured out the Dern plan on their own because it was idiotic.

huh? the dude says "Target those transports!" right when they roll out Benicios payola
That guy was wrong. He sold them the info about the transports. Hux even says he can't believe he was telling him the truth when they scan and find the transports.
Which is funny because it ends up meaning that entire crap plot with Finn and Rose ends up just getting more people killed. Not only does the plan fail but it made things worse.

Sorry, my mistake. I forgot about him overhearing the radio conversation.

1. Why not just tell Poe about Laura Derns real plan instead of practically killing him when he demands to know whats going on? Whats with the big secret? Seems like a really good idea to let people know theyre going to be alright.
I think Holdo (Laura Derns' character) and the other leaders needed to keep information pretty close to the chest. Rose mentioned that she had to zap three would be deserters that day. If the whole ship knew the plan, someone could escape and sell out the Resistance. Poe also needed to learn how to follow orders and the chain of command. After his little stunt earlier in the film, I don't think Holdo trusted him yet.

Actually - why DIDN’T Rose know the plan?
It’s happening. I am melting over another plothole.
Her job was to watch/maintain the escape pods. So wouldn’t someone had said - make sure these pods stay in bay but remain ready to go by “this point in time” and to be “refueled” since that is now a thing?

Some of the 'accusing Disney/Johnson/whomthefrickever of advancing the sjw agenda' claims are just flat out reaching....
She owed him no explanation. He has shown plenty of times that he doesn't exactly follow orders. Quite honestly, its a lesson he needed to learn.

The First Order follows the Lannister guide book of villany.

How the hell did Rose and Finn get into the casino anyway? There were no guards or any type of door person to see that they are not dressed like everyone else? I would figure that place would be like a country club setting in needing a membership and certain dress code to enter.
Also how the hell do they go thru a man hole in the floor only to go up a man hole in the animal barn area? Should they not have come thru the ceiling? Logic would say that if you go down, you continue to go down. I can’t imagine the prison area is on same floor as the animal area. If so, why even have the man holes there?
That whole side mission was stupid and unnecessary in the overall events of the movie. Complete waste of time and use of characters who were not needed for the film. Finn should have stayed in a coma and now Rose is in a coma. Who else will end up in a coma?

Rose and Finn
to their knowledge, the very survival of the resistance and everyone in it relied on the success of their mission, IE they MUST return ASAP to the fleet with the codebreaker on board...
the one thing they must be able to do is fly back to the fleet, nothing else matters
so the first thing they do is park their ship illegally and get arrested for it

Additionally, they have to slip into a place and capture or lure someone out, and the first thing they do is clash with authorities by illegally parking their spaceship?
Yeah well done.
