Trying to rip off Barbie trying to get Barbie's box office.
Artists adding non-existent depth that isn't actually there (again like Chris Pine in Honor Among Thieves)
God DAMMIT, my inner 8-year-old wants this to be good.

He Man is probably best as a satire or goofy movie. This would be a good property for James Gunn.

Luckily for them the modern audience will come out in droves like they always do.

Next time one of those society strengthening third worldians attack the actress on the streets, stifle that urge to go full toxic masculinity and don't intervene, boys.

I think it would be fairly excellent done with the straight man delivery the whole way through. Gunn would be too campy on top of the campy material.
I think if you get everyone delivering the double entendre lines with a straight face it would be funny for adults but taken seriously by the kids.
Characters like Big Uggo, Fisto, Grabber, and Tik Tok seem like child's play to write some Dad Jokes about

Exactly! They make up these ridiculous back stories to push their woke narratives. This crap was never part of the original cannon.

Playing He-Man straight is just going to be a CGI slopfest. There really isn't anything underneath the general storyline.
This is one of the problems marketing material to adult consumers based on nostalgia of their memories of the original content exclusively made to sell them toys.
That's why GG turning Barbie into something of substance was remarkable, and why, I imagine, they're trying to "Barbie" He-Man. There really isn't a good way to make these movies, b/c kids today probably won't give a shite and the market is adults who don't want to see a shitty kids movie.

Well... in the 80s we weren't a bunch of soft arse pussies with men walking around thinking they were chicks and chicks lopping off their tits because they thought they were men. So there's something to be said for "toxic masculinity".
While true - the 80s did give rise to the hair metal, effeminate looking rock stars.
But to your point, despite their looks, they were very much into women

Skeletor didn’t need “toxic masculinity” to make him the villain in the cartoon. He was Adam’s evil uncle Keldor who wanted the throne for himself.
The term “toxic masculinity” gets used to describe just about every behavior attributed to white cisgender men.
A good provider for his wife and children = toxic
Being in shape and well-groomed = toxic
Being patriotic and/or a Christian = toxic
The media tries to tell us that women don’t want intelligent, strong men. Supposedly they want simpering, weak, beta neckbeards who “feel.” I can honestly say that I don’t know any women who want a weak beta male as a partner.
