Influenced, absolutely
But ziggy stardust was very gay, and he was gay in that persona
Hair bands look super gay in retrospect, but so did most shite in the 80s
During that era, people didn't look at what they were doing as anything but masculine
When that sentiment began, the era ended
Yeah, I know, that's why I said influenced and stage dress, because it was always more of a theatrical thing with '80s bands and not a gay thing. You are right to use the word flamboyant, which refers to dress and costume and not exclusively gayness. Just 'cause the gays are attention seeking doesn't mean they own the word. They also should give back rainbows, parades, the word pride and the month of June.

Boys still own "proud" though

Agreed with pretty much everything you said, but downvoted you for including this non-word. Do better

When will they learn not to pick fights with the people who could potentially fill the seats for their movie?

Goddamnit what the frick.
Just make a He-Man movie honoring the original source material.
If you want to make something else to propagate your political and social ideology, don't use He-Man.
What is wrong with Hollywood?

People seem hellbent on alienating parts of their customer base, going to the media to berate and insult the segment.
Bonus points if they also tell the potential customers they are not wanted/needed
Then blame that same group for not showing up to support their product.

So, you're going to start new thread every time there's an additional piece about this movie that mentions masculinity?
What's a single bitch fest when we can have a new one for the same complaint every single day?

I don't know, man, weren't dock workers a target audience of hair bands?
Once upon a time, not so long ago
Tommy used to work on the docks, union's been on strike
He's down on his luck, it's tough, so tough
Gina works the diner all day, working for her man
She brings home her pay, for love, mmm, for love
