I have a full media room that seats 7 people with a 120" screen, but I still go to the movies for certain Action movies because I can't simulate that experience at home.
I had to go watch Kong Skull Island last week even though I could have waited a couple months and bought the 4K version for 1/2 the price of my admission. I leave the theatre feeling like an idiot every time, but I do it again. Is it that much better At the theatre?

I think so.

Going to the movies make it seem more like an event. I only go to big releases nowadays, but I still enjoy it.

I have a 110" screen and I go to the movies all the time. The theater room is for my GF and I to watch movies, play video games, etc; but if it's something I really want to see in theaters, I just go during the day on weekends. Less chance of the riff raff during daylight hours.

Unless you are the kind of fool who spends $50 on mediocre theater food that you know you don't like I'm not sure why you'd feel like an idiot leaving the theater every single time.

Just get a matinee ticket the 3rd week the movie is in theaters, smuggle in your drinks/snacks, and you'll have a decent time pretty much every time.

I see movie theaters being extinct in 10-15 years.

That's just in the smaller theaters. I have 10.2 in my Super IMAX.

Have a media room but it's currently a kids playroom. My kids are getting older and I'm thinking of finally converting it but this is my fear

I don't want to drop a ton of $$ and never use it. I've heard from many people that they never use them. I don't play video games either
