Would a whole series dream sequence count? AKA The Newhart finale?

You can make an argument that Cooper's dream in Twin Peaks changed television.

There were actually a couple of funny dream sequences on (BION) Gomer Pyle. In one Sgt Carter sends Gomer on a dangerous training exercise, and dreams he is visited by a mortician (also played by Jim Nabors).

While not entirely the same, but still somewhat related, there was also a good Gomer Pyle episode where Gomer would sleepwalk every time he would eat at this particular restaurant. His personality would flip while he was sleep walking.

The Sopranos had some good dream sequences. The dreams always had a surreal, non-linear element like actual dreams

Take your pick of the multiple dream sequence from The Sopranos.

This

Those dream sequences are like real dreams... Some have a theme but have elements that make no sense.

They actually feel like dreams.

The one where he has food poisoning is so disorienting because he keeps waking up and going back to sleep and you never know when you are in a dream or not until something strange happens.

Its fantastic.

We'll also throw in "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer." Classic era Simpsons has some amazing animation, but this one is the best they've ever done.

Also, Christoffffa's dream in season one was good. "In the Czech republic too we love pork" Also The Sopranos dreams are so good because they have all the random stuff, and little tidbits from earlier stuff that happened in the show, mainly little stuff like random lines or people. Sort of like when you see something random at the super market and a week later you have a dream involving it and you wake up like "wtf, well I know where that idea came from". Dreams are weird.
