think Michelle Fairley could pull off McGonagall

Her or Olivia Colman would be wonderful. Either one would nail it but I think I’d prefer Fairley. She’s got a sternness that Colman has a harder time replicating though she can certainly pull it off. Maybe I’m thinking too much of her character in The Bear

And interesting choice for Dumbledore would maybe be Jared Harris? His father, Richard Harris, was the first Dumbledore. Gambon was only a few years older than Harris is right now so I think he’s old enough to nail it without being too old we have to worry about recasting if he can’t finish the series. He’s got the same twinkle in his eye that Richard had as well. My next favorite choice would be Ian Glen. I could see him playing Dumbledore or Mad Eye Moody tbh. He’s just got the voice for it

The only one I can see without hesitation is Adam Driver. I don't think there's any other option

Here’s the problem, though. JKR is still involved and I know she was pretty adamant that only UK actors/actresses be cast for the original movies and I think the same will apply here. Maybe she will budge since there were some prominent American actors in the Fantastic Beasts movies. So I guess it’s possible. But I don’t think Adam will want to commit to a decade either after being a star already. Like I said before, outside of maybe Dumbledore and 1-2 others, I think they’ll save the bigger name Actors and Actresses for characters that aren’t required to film for months at a time like the kids, Dumbledore, Snape, etc.

I think Barry Keoghan or even someone like Ewan Mitchell would be fantastic. Both are around the same age Snape is in the books as well.

Pretty great and inspired choice there.

There’s sooo many great options for Voldemort. Bill Skarsgaard, Matt Smith, Cillian Murphy (not a chance in hell but would be amazing), same for Hiddelston.

I know they’ll try and make sure no one from the movies is cast in the series, or if they do, make sure they’re playing a different character. But one actor I hope they bring back but for a bigger role is Rhys Ifans. I think he played Luna’s father in the movies? But he’s killing it as Otto Hightower and I would like to see him come back maybe as Barty Crouch Sr. or something

Read most of the books, saw the movies & really like the Hogwarts Legacy vid game.

Just hope they don’t SJW this stuff up too much.

* I see there's some soy representation here in the thread.

The 3 main kids will be unknowns. Here's a few thought to some of the adults

Following the "All UK Actors only""

Tobias Menzies (Blackjack Randal from Outlander) as Snape

Masie Williams as Tonks

Warrick Davis as Flitwick

Jonathan Pryce : Dumbledore

John Bradley (Samwell Tarley GOT) as Hagrid

Olivia Coleman as Mrs. Weasley (she would be great!)

Helen Mirren as Prof. McGonagall

Christopher Eccleston as Voldemort

I mean there will be some race swaps but hopefully not with prominent characters. As long as the acting, production value/sets/costumes, writing and directing are top notch I can live with some minor changes

Now watch they make Harry part Indian

I love Pryce so much but he’s already 77. There’s no way he’d last an entire series over a decade and still be able to do the things Dumbledore would need to do

Olivia Colman is a bit old for Molly but it would still be fantastic she has such a warmness to her as a person and actor

ETA: He’s young but in several years, Joseph Quinn could potentially be an amazing Lupin

If Pryce could handle the schedule he would be great..

Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) was my other choice for Dumbledore. He has a gentleness in his voice that would work well. At 63 he's ata good age.

If they dont pull any bs ill be all in. One of my hangups about the movies is we dont get enough time just enjoying the incredible world she created, which was frankly far more impressive than the plot. I will be nice to see more Diagon Alley and it wouldnt hurt my feelings if stretched the story to include more off plot story.

Also wouldnt hurt my feelings if they fixed some of the plotholes like the prophesy which never really made any sense

Outside of the first 3 and the last one, they’re really not that good.

What? The first 2 and the last film are the only bad ones. 3-7 ranged from good to great. Order of the Phoenix is a miracle of an adaptation, turning a long, miserable book into a tightly paced, exciting film.

Doubt it, JK controls her property with an iron fist. She will have to sign off on everything. There may be more of Dumbledore being gay in it though. I doubt she will allow any trans stuff in there with how vocal she is on twitter about it.

Not exactly true, there was a tranny in the recent video game, Hogwarts Legacy.

I was really surprised, I wasn't expecting it, and was very off putting.

HBP and GOF were pretty bad, imo. POA is the only one I'd call a legitimately good movie on its own

Once the movies became dark, they became less fun

That and they had to cut so much out of 4-6 to fit them in because of how much longer those books were than 1-3.

All three of them basically covered the first couple chapters/setup (plus the TriWizard events for GOF), and then boom, skipped to the end of the book for the second half.

I think this would be the best choice for Voldemort, and given that adult Voldemort really doesn’t have that many scenes until the final novel, I think they can get him.

Lupin is only 34 when he first appears, so he’s not that old. The movies aged up Harry’s parents and their friends compared to the books. I think Lily and James are only 21 when they were killed.

At this point you're basically using all Game of Thrones cast.

British Actors have a lot of crossover. I'm also looking at Dr. Who, Broadchurch and others. Pryce has a very long resume's beyond GOT. It's pretty easy to search ensembled British movies and TV
