I wonder if they'll try and do a book per season? Seems like it would be tough to break them up otherwise.

Doing so would also allow the actors to age appropriately with the story, but HBO seems to no longer be capable of putting out a new season of a show once a year anymore.

I didn't read the books, but I can't imagine anyone being Snape but Alan Rickman.

Adam Driver seems like the no brain choice here. As much as I like Alan Rickman and how much he killed in the role, he was quite frankly too old to play Snape. He was only six years younger than Michael Gambon for instance. Adam Driver will be the perfect age to be Snape in this show.

That’s what they’re going to do. I’m guessing they add quite a bit of filler in the first two-three seasons, and then they’ll be more straight up adaptations of the books from there.

a black Hermione is coming

This is practically a 100% certainty.

Hasn't Hermione been played by a black actress in every version of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?

Agree with all of that.

Man, it is going to be hard to adjust to a new cast for Snape, McGonagall, etc. just as much as the main three.

I think Michelle Fairley could pull off McGonagall.

I think the direction and writing and production value will be fine. The show will be entirely dependent on the cast, particularly the kids, Dumbledore and Snape. They HAVE to nail those for it to work.

I think she’d be my choice as well.

I just hope they keep Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliff and Rupert Grint away from this project in any shape, fashion or form for the way they shite on J.K. Rowling.

I don't know where they would be involved honestly. I believe Watson and Radcliff at least have made an effort to distance their careers from the type-casting of being in the movies. I'm optimistic that HBO is above cheap cameos.

Would be funny if they had those three and Tom Felton return for the 19 years later epilogue though.

they clearly want nothing more to do with the wizarding world and it doesn't need them.

but gatekeeping Rowling is certainly a choice.

Because the movies kinda suck compared to the books and they left quite a bit out. Potterheads have been wanting this from the beginning. HP still sells a shite ton of merchandise too. Plus JK now gives 0 fricks when it comes to using HP to make as much money as she can and taunts her haters with the money she makes while they try to cancel her.

Well, to be fair, she kinda went batshit crazy with alterations to her own lore (even more so than Lucas did). Talking about how the wizards just shite on the floor because magic will clean it up, etc...

Like the "revelation" that Dumbledore is gay. Regardless if that bothers you or not, it's irrelevant because it's not even mentioned in passing in the books. Literally nothing about the man's romantic relationships comes into play and then suddenly it's, "Oh, FYI - Dumbledore? Totally into dudes."

It would be like if Lucas showed up and said, "R2-D2? Yeah, dude was totally into S&M" or "Chewbacca when he was younger was totally into growing his own pot" and then just walked off the stage. No context, no nothing, just this random information that means absolutely nothing except to make you wonder WHY.

It's HBO so get ready for a Dumbledore and Grindelwald flashback sex scene.

Freckled Jesus will ride again.

I wonder how gay Dumbledore will be. Thanks, JK.

Bringing back Tom and the Weasley Twins in some way would be great. They love their association with the HP movies.

I’m cool with them centering the entire show around black characters so long as make the setting Azkaban.
