My wife is a teacher and home for the summer and started watching the new Jessica Biel show candy and I came through and saw Pablo Schreiber on it and said “hey it’s master cheeks.”
Haven’t gotten back to finishing. I want to but I’m too busy with summer.
She looked at me like I was deranged but I had a laugh.

Has anyone done any digging on this? A week later and I havent. Why did we get all her backstory? Surely they cut out some episodes or something?

I can't even remember if they wrapped up her story or just cut her off. Was strange. Like 2 different shows alternating weeks almost.

They suspended filming because of COVID, and cut one episode from production.
I wonder if there were scheduling issues when filming resumed.
I assume she’s there as a marketing ploy for the Asian market. Which explains why her story feels tacked on, it was.

Just watched the first episode, and while the acting from pretty much everyone is terrible, it's actually well shot and well written IMO.
Hopefully we see more scenes of the Covenant moving forward. So far, not too bad though.

it will go downhill from there. then back uphill. then downhill again.
there's about 30 minutes of actual action in 9 hours of the season.

A lot of the criticism it got here is fair. I enjoyed it, though. I try not to dig too far in to it and I also didn't go in to it expecting it to follow the same plot of the game or books.

So is this the halo version days of our lives?

Overall, I think it sets up enough stuff for season 2 to make it worth the watch. Just completely skip episode 7. Trust me.

I went against my better judgment and did watch after my break… it wasn’t bad. Enjoyed them taking out the creepy dude.
Knowing that it was their last episode made it easier.

It was a below average show imo. I loved the halo games growing up. I knew the games would never be adapted to the big screen 1:1, but this show was a pretty gross departure from the spirit of the games. It pretty much killed it for me.
I’ll keep watching just because of how much nostalgia I have for it, but it’s pretty disappointing.

i finally finished after knocking out the last 4 this week.
i'm less hard on it now, but it's still mildly disappointing. storyline was fine, i think they just missed a few key opportunities.
i think i pinpointed why i and others didn't like this show. at least my opinion. 3 big budget action sequences were all good. other than meh cgi, i don't think there's a lot to complain about with them. them releasing it on a weekly basis is where they failed. i'm fine with week to week releases. binging isn't for everything. but we saw Master Chief being Master Chief on March 24th with the premier. He did not do any more Master Chiefing till April 21st. Then he took another hiatus till May 19. So in nearly 2 months, we have 3 sequences of John doing his thing.
If that had been released all at once, there would be complaints about the filler episodes, but you know you could power through just a couple more episodes to get there as opposed to waiting 3 weeks and having 0 clue if next week would actually have what we came here for.
i haven't seen a criticism that said "this should be Master Chief going ham on the covenant and being on a Halo every second of every episode. we expect action every single moment." it was more nuanced to say, "hey a little more action in a few more episodes would have been nice."
TL;DR releasing week to week instead of binge fashion made it to where we saw MC doing his thing 3 times in two months and it made the whole thing more miserable than it would have been with one big episode dump.
