The escape from the elevator/ SHIELD is one of the most entertaining set pieces in the MCU.

Not to hijack the thread, but I don't think Thor Ragnarok gets enough love. Easily the most rewatchable Marvel movie for me, good hero, legit comedy, good villain (a real problem with Marvel), and a pretty good third act (a REAL problem with Marvel) - (spoiler) releasing the demon to destroy Asgard was probably the biggest twist in a Marvel movie since Iron Man 3. The 3rd act of Civil War: gotta stick the whatsit into the thingamajig at the last second!!! Blah. The rest of Civil War was pretty great, though.

The Cap films are just great all around at capturing the periods of Rogers development as a character.

The First Avenger was spot on Silver Age remix. The look, the feel, the script, just all spot on for Kirby Cap.

WS was the perfect Brubaker Cap rendition. Grounded. Winter Soldier. Sad, honest, brutal all at the same time.

Civil War, Brubaker/Millar's cross over Cap.

Captain America has easily been my favorite part of the MCU. It'd be nice to see Evans continue in the role, even with a reduced focus on the character.

Do you need to see any other marvel movies before watching it? Keep hearing it’s really good but have only seen the first two iron man movies.

I never really understood why Zola died. There was a USB port at his terminal. Why didn't HYDRA download him to a networked computer?

Thor Ragnarok is my favorite. But I think CAWS is the best marvel movie followed by Ironman

Classic comic book death with an easy out for resurrection later on.

You don't "need" to watch any other movies, but you'll lose some of the emotional impact if you don't watch at least Captain America: The First Avenger.

Agreed.

Might be the best comic film other than the Dark Knight.

And, hot take, Bucky is the most interesting character in the MCU.

Bucky as a villain here is legit the only villain in any MCU movie that puts any fear in me. He's a fleshy Terminator. It's great.

Bucky is one of my favorite characters. -My boys called me Buck / Bucky while in the military instead of saying my whole last name so ... -

Steve "This doesnt have to end in a fight."
Bucky "It always ends in a fight."

I think WS had the best potential to be a great non-comic movie.

What ultimately holds it back is the helicarriers. I understand they were established in Avengers, and it makes for a more action-filled ending, but a more realistic, less sci-fi threat (satellites and/or drone strikes, maybe) would have elevated this above comic book movie, and into the top of the espionage thrillers.

And while Bucky makes a great action villain, Redford's character was great too. Chilling, because he's totally conceivable.

I laugh at this. While it was good compared to most Hollywood crap and even in the Marvel universe. GOTG 1 is the single greatest movie of the 21 century. I know, that's a bold claim, but I am rewatching all the Marvel movies with the family before endgame. We just finished GOTG 1 (seen it about 14 times at this point). This movie is a masterpiece. Remove the comic book tag and just look at it as a movie. Every scene is either funny, fulfilling or meaningful. Every damn scene. You can't help loving the characters, you laugh, you cry, it is amazing. Don't even forget how awesome the soundtrack is, I challenge anyone to watch this movie with an open film critic mind and not see how perfect it is.

What makes TDK so amazing is Heath Ledger’s Joker. But what also makes it great is how he’s the perfect foil to Batman. He always has been.

I kind of feel a similar effect between Bucky and Cap here. Two opposing forces destined to collide, anathema to each other, (nearly) irreconcilable. That’s what makes the dynamics so good.

I actually hated Winter Soldier. In my opinion it was Transformers in tights.

If you are going to make a serious super hero movie it should be done like the first 2 Nolan Batman films.

Guardians I and II and Thor Ragnarok were fun because they didn't take it too seriously.

During Winter Soldier I found myself rolling my eyes at just hoping it would end.
