eliminate my geographical exaggeration. same argument stands. a huge arse army like that AND a dragon (the dragon makes it truly difficult under any scenario) cannot be hidden. not to the point where an army LITERALLY doesn't know it's near until they HEAR the horses coming

No, but it's a popular crackpot theory that LF is SweetRobin's biological father.

No. Actually not no, but hell no.

Yeah, George never did that. Except when Robb snuck up on Jaime. And when the Tyrell's and Tywin snuck up on Stannis at BlackWater. And When Theon snuck up on Winterfell. And When the Masters snuck up on Mereen.
It's happened the entire series, but now people have a problem with it?

the fact that it's happened back to back to back is a bigger issue than the fact that you can reference 3-4 examples over the past 6 seasons

i will say this. i'm very happy they showed the Dothraki as horse archers finally. they had even referenced it once earlier (season 1 iirc) but it was nice to see that materialize and move them away from being so reliant on H2H combat

Not even Hardhome or Battle of the Bastards?
I really enjoyed Joffrey's death. As for Spoils of War vs. the other 2, I'm not trying to belittle them, but dragons being a game changer has been built up as legend since season 1 and we finally got to see them change the game last night.

I watch them all with cc. The dialogue is too quiet at times and then the battle scenes blow you the frick out.

Perhaps it shows the one minded nature of the Lannisters. Their objective was to set up the bait at casterly rock and the remainder of the army took high garden. From a geographical standpoint I would assume the dothraki attacked from the north. It's a days sail from from dragonstone and a days rode on horseback to the battle field. It's not like these scouts can send Jaime a text that a hoarde is coming.
I see posts after every episode picking apart the military strategy. They can't always make the most strategic moves. People make mistakes in war, and more importantly..how it played out makes for better, more dramatic television.
If a scout spotted the dragon and rode to meet the army to warn Jaime, I have a hard time believing that guy makes it across open country with no cover without being burned by the dragon en route

well they haven't got to it in the show, but in the books Euron fricks with magic and the "mysterious" fog that was used to hide his ships from Yara/Theon might be a reference to that
and maybe for the surprise at Casterly Rock as well

Yeah, it's getting annoying. And I'm sure there will be more teleportation throughout the season.
It's like watching a chess match but you don't see all the moves on the board, only the "kills" because both players are cheating by moving pieces when you're not looking.

Then we get episodes of strictly traveling and dialogue, which makes for shite television. In the end this is a show for entertainment, y'all have to keep that in mind. There are like 10 episodes left in the series, I think they can leave it to the viewer to figure out some time has passed

can't wait for Jon to be back in Winterfell next episode

Don't have time to read the whole thread, but I had two issues in an other while great, thrilling episode.
1. No way Randyll Tarly (much less Bronn) doesn't have a lookout on one of those high buttes. They would have seen the Dothraki and the dragons miles away.
2. If that scene had appeared in one of the books, no way that one of the main characters wouldn't have died. Very "TV" to have both Bronn and Jamie survive.

My favorite takeaway from this episode was one word:
FEWER.
My wife was awfully confused as to why I was cracking up.

Are we sure he's going back to winterfell? I figured from the preview that Bran sent a raven informing him of the night kings movement. Winterfell is in the northwest, east watch by the sea is where the night king is heading. Don't know why he'd go to Winterfell considering the length of either journey and time being of the essence

I think next episode will be an attempt to expose Dany's flaws and move the audience away from her and to the true focal point which has always been Jon.

It's stated they were right across from Blackwater Rush. Dragonstone is less than a day's sail from King's Landing, so I think it's entirely feasible they wouldn't have been able to get the message to Jaime in time.
Which, according to the maps, puts them "right" outside of King's Landing on the Roseroad. And we can assume the Dothraki didn't land at King's Landing. So...where did the Dothraki put in their ships and muster and then ride from in order to completely surprise everyone? Remember, Cersei and Euron have seem to both have the ability of Sauron's All-Seeing Eye this season. Check out a map of Westeros...there really is no logical reason for this to be a complete surprise, unless the Dothraki faught and won a lot of skirmishes on the way.
However, I will agree that it would have been difficult to get a message to Jamie. But no scouts...no outriders ever? Seems unlikely.
