Good old Davos. With Olenna gone, Davos is going to have to be the one to supply us with the rapier wit.

Yeah, because no one in the thousands of years of Westeros history has ever had the need to have a lookout there somewhere. Huge stretch of land, breadbasket of the continent and no one ever thought, "Hey, if we build a lookout on one of these things, it will warn us if the Dornish, Iron Islanders, bandits etc come raiding."
Someone at some time would have built a lookout on the main road between Kingslanding and High Garden and Tarly would have used it.

I'm afraid she'll have to satisfy her vengeance one way or another. If she lets Jaime take the black, that could spell the end for Bronn. He did put a scorpion bolt in her beloved child

The Half-hand was beating him, even if it was a "pretend fight" where Half-hand knew he had to die, and I think Ghost helped him there. Mance, magicked to appear as Rattleshirt, beats him in a sparring match (I believe).
He was like 16 fighting a guy in the Night's Watch, one of the best swordsman in the Night's Watch might I add. Mance was also a man of the Night's Watch and then King of the Wildlings. You don't get to be King of the Wildlings by not being a good swordsman. Jon Snow was a child during all this.

What practical difference would that have made though?
You have time to consolidate and prepare. Maybe build trenches or place stakes in front of your position. Have the anti-dragon scorpion ready to fire . . .

Did you see a lookout on top of any of those buttes? Any elevators? Invading armies would have to fight their way through other houses to even reach that point in the past- which would makes its way to KL.
You military strategists need to get a grip. "Jaime a hoarde is coming!" "Thanks, we'll just high tail it out of here!"
*cuts to tyrrion and davos playing a drinking game for 20 minutes*

Who was in the ship? Why was Sansa crying?
So many small details, I cant remember them all.

Scanned through thread and didn't see anyone mentioned Sansas reaction to learning Aryas new ability. Maybe the show creators didn't intend it but Sansa looked pissed. But I don't know why. I got the impression she saw Arya as a threat.
I didn't think she was pissed, more afraid.
She realized that Arya is not the little brat sister she used to be and she's the warrior she always wanted to be
Plus it set up the stare down with LF

True, but he didn't unite all the Clans by the sword alone.

I said as much...he's only like 18 when we last see him in the books anyway.
Which doesn't make him the best swordsman in Westeros.

You could see LF look at Arya after that sparing scene, he knows he has no chance with Sansa so will go after Arya's affections to try to get on the Iron Throne.
LOL. No

Regarding the Arya and Brienne sword play: is the "Needle" made of Valaryian steel?

No. Jon forged Needle for Arya before he left Winterfell.

I got the impression that she was pleased, like: "She really wasn't kidding about her list, I wish I could see the look on Cersei's face when my sister kills her."

I think it relates to the "list", and how after seeing her use a sword vs. someone as formidable as Brienne, she realizes Arya is an arse kicking/killing machine like she suggests.
What is the meaning of Arya telling Brienne that "No one" taught her to fight like that when asked?
Posted on 8/7/17 at 10:29 am to DivotBreath
no, but its quality is often commented upon. "castle forged steel"
however, I tend to agree with the hound "ser maryn is alive because he had armor and a big fricking sword"

Ok why are a few of you upset that Tarly and Jamie didn't have scouts up on those tall as frick buttes?
Who cares? We got a bad arse 20 min fight scene which wouldn't have been as bad arse if they saw it coming and fled, needless to say they would've been caught by Dothraki cavalry and a dragon anyways so why does it matter? Let's move on to more important matters
