It's a combination of a lot of things, but I don't think there's been any solid evidence. Just like you said, the combination of Bran and Dany's visions, the rumors, and Cersei's ace-in-the-hole of trial by combat no longer being an option. Dany's vision of her being in the burnt-out throne room kind of hints that Kings Landing might be torched before she even arrives. Without the trial by combat, she really doesn't seem to have any options left short of bringing an army into the city, and I don't think Tommen and Kevan will allow that.

If Jon had had the Knights of the Vale he probably would've had them charge right at a formation of pikemen. He's s great fighter but is easily manipulated/tricked. Sansa knew that Ramsey would outsmart Jon and that the only chance of winning was to introduce an outside element. Plus the strongest force in the North is now kind of under her control.

What Sansa did is messed up, but that's what she is. She's been psychologically tortured for years and doesn't trust anyone to protect her, even the half brother she barely knows.

Sansa knows for sure. LF has probably heard the rumors, but I doubt he believes them. He just thinks that Jon survived the coup and used it as an excuse to leave the Night's Watch.

I wouldn't got that far but the entire scenario made no sense. Hell, if Rob had known that LF was on his way with the Knights of the Vale, he could have simply delayed the confrontation until the cavalry literally arrived likely saving thousands of lives.
Ramsay would have seen that, pissed himself and retreated back into Winterfell. They'd have held off a siege possibly for years while Jon's army either starved in the snow or was forced to fight the WW army.

Sansa arranging the surprise attack was the only way to go.

bitches.

This. Had anyone relayed to Ramsay that a large Vale army was to the south I doubt he would have went on the attack.

Really Jon messed it up when he charged his men, rather than waiting for the charge and picking off their men.
He fell into Ramsay's trap.

Who the frick could possibly do that? I mean you would have to have some drone-like, star wars technology in order to probe out past your own walls and get some information about what surrounds you. What could you possibly use to scout out that kind of thing? Even with today's armies, it's essentially impossible to know what's happening elsewhere in the world, and we have satellites. Surely you're not suggesting that Ramsay would have satellites. And without satellites or magic, there's absolutely no way that anyone could possibly know that there is a fricking army coming!!!!

A few more E-10 pictures from farfarawaysite. Still nothing really new or exciting.

More S6 E10 pictures

No pie on the table in the Frey dinner scene no care.

We're talking about if the Vale army lined up alongside Jon and showed themselves before the battle.

Plus, we don't know if they waited to attack or had gotten there just in time to save Jon's army.

This is actually a pretty good explanation. I just hope it results in Jon asking the obvious question and then getting mad when Sansa tells him her logic. But if this was her logic then she was right, Jon's kind of a dummy.

Yeah, they were chilling at the castle that they took back from the iron born (Moat Cailyn?). So Ramsay should have known about their presence was kinda my point. Actually Jon should have as well.

Obviously. I'm a bit insulted by the question actually.

I mean, George Clooney has a satellite that he uses to track the movements of African warlords. And that's George fricking Clooney, not NATO.

Do we get any interaction between Jon and LF this episode? And if so, how do y'all think that conversation goes?
