I’m pretty sure that was one of the best thrones universe episodes ever. Really well done. Yes the attempted rape completely out of nowhere was unnecessary and probably the stupidest thing anyone has attempted (except maybe the bringing a wild dragon into battle fiasco) but I can look past it.
The ending scene with alicent seeing her fathers head and blood everywhere was just brutal

Just watched the first episode, a lot of action and moving of the plot which you love to see.
Were all dragon riders as stupid as the ones in this show? Everytime there is a battle the dragon rider flies around like they are untouchable and every time they are touched…. I mean flying right into ships at low altitude just asking to get shot.
And then the stupid girl who thought it was a good idea to bring a wild dragon into a naval battle to “help”.
These people are idiots

Seems to be a premise of the show

I thought the acting by Rhaenyra when she was holding Jace was fantastic

As someone else pointed out, it’s a war where the main drivers are teenagers that have zero war experience. Them all being dumb actually makes sense.

Lack of action in episode 3, but to be expected after the first 2 episodes of the season.
Rhaenyra is an idiot for not legitimizing Corlys’ bastards. Risk losing the house that’s been her biggest ally the entire time…and has a dragon. Not including Baela and Rhaena who are caught in the middle now.

She made two big mistakes I think. One was not recognized Corlys’ sons as was said. The other I think was pissing off the rich of Kings landing. The rat thing was cool, but I think if another battle for Kings Landing happens, she’ll regret pissing them off. And she now has the church against her as well.

Rhaenyra has shown she has zero foresight into ruling.
I can’t believe she pissed off her biggest supporter, got duped by a cousin commander, and gave the biggest faith a reason to turn against her all within a few days of taking power.
I have no idea where this goes but for some reason I have a feeling of where it will.

This is gonna need a second viewing. I couldn’t handle all the names, lol
Could someone remind me who that kid was she passed in the hallway?
I knew the Hightower boy was up to something

Her befuddled brain thought for a few seconds that it was her son who died two episodes ago, but it was really just a common servant kid.

And Daemon tried to tell her she was worrying about the wrong things. She has the throne, she has a bunch of dragons, she has all the power. She can do what she wants yet she’s trying to play little political games and worried about acceptance and it’s backfiring.
Also, easy to say in hindsight, but shouldn’t Daemon have been a little suspicious that they would have the young prince heir out there on the battlefield with them. Not like he was a grown up of warrior age and would be to important to put at risk.

Rhaenyra looking at fake Daeron’s hair like damn I should’ve bleached my kids hair.

The ringer recap pod was ripping him for that. You’re not that dumb. They said Daemon would have called the dragon over to test it.

Exactly. Daemon’s ego completely blinded him here. Instead of accepting the win, Daemon’s ego dictates that he must extract maximum compliance and show who is truly boss. He demands that Ormund hand over his dragon-riding ward, Daeron Targaryen. In Daemon's mind, he is being a proactive mastermind by neutralizing a future threat. In reality, he is just flexing his power because he can.
2: It's a trap! I think it was meant to gain time and form a plan. Having a decoy is incredibly smart. Daeron is an heir to the throne. They would need some sort of plan. Plus they said they heard the rumors that Rhaenerya took the iron throne. They needed a plan. The decoy plan bought them time. Fake Daeron adds to the plot.

It was not an episode highlighting the smarts of Rhaenyra and Daemon that's for sure. Just dumb decision after dumb decision.

And again, Rhaenyra is not making good decisions. I know you want to be merciful and be liked, but that Hightower army was too dangerous to just accept the bended knee and trust they would just go home. Of course they did not and are a huge problem. Daemon should have cut the leaders head off and burned most of the army. Leave a few survivors to take tales of horror back with them. They need to be ruling with an iron fist in this situation. The chance to be merciful and gain more acceptance can come later. They have way too dangerous of foes out there for this. She is thinking what would her father do, but he was an undisputed ruler and he was always in peacetime. What he would do means nothing as there is no precedent for what he would do.

Let's see, they cut off the patriarch's head and imprison his daughter and granddaughter. The Hightowers have dragons on their side as well.
That's not the sort of motivation for surrendering.

Boring episode. My wife predicted the Whatever Happened to Baby Jane banquet. The only entertaining twist was the reveal of the faux prince.

Everyone: Starving population in the city and need to get food. Possible Green loyalists still within the Red Keep and needing to be rooted out. The crown's treasury and gold is missing. Aemond and Vhagar are still at large.
Daemon: "Aegon conquered Westeros with only 3 dragons and we have 6. Lets go conquer the entire world now."
Rhaenyra: "Hang on, let me piss off my biggest ally whose son and granddaughter control 2 of my 6 dragons"
