Personally, I enjoyed Season 2. It didn't have as much action, but I already know what's going to happen anyway, so it's not as important. They should definitely make up for it this season.

That said, some reviewers have seen the first 4 episodes and I'm hearing that they have changed a lot from the books. 'Mixed reviews' is a term I keep hearing.

Anyway, let's roll. WEINER WEINER!!!
quote:

The season 3 premiere plunges directly into the catastrophic Battle of the Gullet, an epic naval clash as the Triarchy’s fleet ambushes a Black fleet transporting Rhaenyra’s young sons, Aegon and Viserys, to Pentos. The fierce confrontation features massive dragon-on-ship combat and severe losses for the Blacks

I was a little down on season 2 but the trailer got me right back in.

I only know what Joffrey said in GOT. I can't imagine they would change that. I'm guessing the path leading to that will be different than the books?

I would not be shocked if they spin it some way to have Rhaenyra fake her death and escape to Pentos or some shite.

It will be hard for them to change which major players and dragons die because the books are pretty concrete with witnesses to the vast majority of them. There’s only one that could be “ambiguous”

Somehow I feel there may be a fundamental change from the book. To stay with the plot would likely be wildly unpopular.

As an aside, I am rewatching Rooks Rest right now and am reminded how much I hate seeing dragons fight. Looking forward to the new season, but then again not.

I wish the Battle of the Gullet were included at the end of season 2. Excited nonetheless for this season, been rewatching all day!

I think it's more along the lines of how they're whitewashing Rhaenyra and making her far more sympathetic than she is in the books. They also have to resolve the fact that they have excluded people like Nettles from the show. GRRM has talked about the potentially bad ripple effect that some of their choices will create.

It’s a weird dynamic and I kind of enjoy it. You can obviously feel that the show is painting her as a sympathetic or guiltless character but if you just judge her actions and their consequences, she’s ignorant, oblivious, self centered and generally awful. I like that it’s open for interpretation and even though there are some weak spots in the show, I think it’s brilliantly written at its strong points.

They have, in more than one way. In the book, she likely had something to do with Laenor's death and we'll see if the show portrays her as doing some of the Mad King things she does in the book.

Look, I don't blame them. They need for someone to be at least kind of a good guy. People already complain that there isn't one.

Yes, both Rhaenyra and Alicent are portrayed as victims in a way. With Rhaenyra it’s through her constant entitled whining to whichever subservient character she can “pull into her web” as Cole would say. With Alicent it’s her constant virtue signaling to everyone. I do think the show does a good job of juxtaposing these things with their actions and all the damage they do with their choices. There are plenty of scenes when other characters confront them on their deluded opinions of themselves it just never deters either character.

Hopefully this season won't be as shitty as the first two seasons have been.

I'm surprised Alt-Shift-X didn't put a refresher video out this week

Several others did. Michael Talks About Stuff had a good one.

Here we go. Just think of this as last season's finale. From what I'm hearing, that's the best description.

I never know what’s an acceptable book comment about changes
