Just finished the first episode. Sooooo fricking glad the man/lady or whatever sea captain is gone. Totally insufferable character.
Also happy to see Jace’s pompous arse gone. Dude is a bastard, knows he’s a bastard but still acted like he was worthy of the throne.
Great first episode though. Not everyone liked Season 2 but I did enjoy it and I like the way Season 3 has started.
The only thing I’m not crazy about is the Oedipus thing going on with Aemond. I know they established he has mommy issues but that’s a touch too far for me

I’m just a show watcher but Daemon had the same mommy issues last season. His older brother had the throne, was deformed and defeated by the end.
Aemond has mommy issues, his older brother has the throne, is deformed and just abandoned the throne for the sake of protection and safety.

I'm not loving their use of the Isle of Faces. I guess they plan to tie it into the final dragon fight, but having Alys Rivers randomly show up was out of place, even despite the fact that she lives in nearby Harrenhall.

I never argued they should, I contrasted their effectiveness. Even the large scorpions aren’t supposed to pierce the hide of a mature dragon and can only kill them with headshots, usually through an eye. This mobile scorpion that’s 3-5 times smaller kills a mature dragon with a shot to its torso. If this were actually following the rules of the world every castle would be armed with scorpions. Every army would have them. They don’t because they’re not this effective.
