I know you are just trying to help, and you are careful but one post like that and then some one else replies adding even more hints and it could easily get out of hand.

GOT 2.8 Thread "The Prince of Winterfell" (Literates only)

Who else will chop off jamie's hand?
Anyone can. I'm not saying Goat doesn't make it, but it doesn't matter who does it.
As unique and interesting of a character as vargo is I will be extremely disappointed if he doesn't make it

I pretty much avoid posting anything of substance in the non readers thread. I just find there is too much chance to inadvertently cross the line between what I know from the book and what I've seen on the show so far. And there is always the chance that even if what I post is innocent, it will start a discussion where someone or other will drop a book spoiler. Better safe than sorry I guess you could call it.
There is plenty of discussion for book readers in these book reader threads. I still follow the non reader threads but just avoid posting in them almost completely.

And he has to have the speech impediment.

I only post little snippets of backstory that the show can't/won't get into and thats only if it will help clear someones confusion up.
Well aside from the Jaime vs. Drogo debate we are having over there now.

Zollo, the fat Dothraki, does the actual chopping, not Vargo.

They've already passed over a big part of Vargo's story with Arya escaping because Gregor is put in charge. The whole Arya as Tywin's cup bearer removed the need for weasel soup and means we wont see roose in harrenhall which means no vargo.

Good point. That means Jamie never goes to Harrenhall, ie, doesn't get his hand cut off?

Jaime wouldn't give the Cleganes that kind of respect. I would think Selmy and maybe Oberyn Martell would be on his radar.
Actually the Cleganes are actually two of the people Jamie thinks of when he's fighting Brienne and she's hanging with him. He thinks to himself that Gregor, the Greatjon, and possibly Sandor are the only fighters that might be physically stronger than him (and someone else, dude from Crakehall or whatever I forget). Not that it means he thinks they could hang with him persay, but I think it would follow that the Cleganes would be the two most likely people along with Barristan.
Jamie probably hasn't seen Oberyn since before the war I don't think, the Viper mentions that the last time he saw Tyrion was right after he was born and Cersei tweaked his pecker. And Tyrion would have been at any of Jamie's tourneys to meet Oberyn. So I doubt Martell would be on his list, even though he could likely hang with anyone in a fight given his extreme badassery.

while those are good points this is television and the answer could be as simple as the actor they have in mind wasn't available for this season...
although I have a feeling you are right and we wont see him, and that really dissapoints me. I'm also curious about who will cut his hand off....
Who else would feel the need to? Vargo did it to sabotage a Bolton Lannister alliance.... I would think anyone else would prefer him dead or the bounty money.

He may not know of his abilities first hand but I would believe that a career soldier would hear about this badass dude down in dorne that they call the red viper...

Jesus Christ... If Jamie does no tlose his hand, that will change everything about his character. No way this happens.
ETA, I've read every book and some of the D&E tales.
I think the three people currently alive (in Jamies mind) in Westeros who would best him at swords are: The Mountain (would have beaten the Hound if Robert Baratheon had not intervened), Barristan Selmay (although he may have lost a step), and Loras Tyrell (swordplay is absolutely part of jousting. Once un-horsed, you have got to finish on your feet untill someone yeilds)

He was infamous for crippling the oldest Tyrell boy, as well.

Jamie is not the sort of guy to allow simply tales to make him think someone could hang with him, he would have to see it firsthand. We see in his own viewpoint that he believes he could beat anyone.

This was shown in the dunk and egg tales but I can't remember it ever being mentioned in ASOIAF. All you ever hear about is someone being unhorsed, so maybe the rules changed in 100 years. Idk
and we have no idea who would've won out of Sandor and Gregor.

Westeros.org review snippets:
Spot on.
This is what has me worried, do y'all still think this character is a spy?
quote:
The biggest problem of the stories that seem closest to the novels, it must be said, is Harrenhal—once again, we cannot fault the acting, but… What they’ve done is gutted the narrative of Arya’s character arc, stripped it of her move into becoming increasingly cold-blooded and ruthless, and left something that feels less horrific, less intense, and generally less interesting. Doubtless staging the betrayal of Harrenhal was beyond what the production could handle, but I think they could have stuck themselves to Arya’s story more closely on a thematic level, developing her. Perhaps the intention is to push the bulk of her development into the next seasons, but as it is, what I realize at the end of all this is… what has Arya’s story been for? She isn’t a different person now than she was at episode four, she hasn’t learned or developed since witnessing the initial horrors of torture and the death of Yoren. Charles Dance has been appealing as Tywin Lannister, and his scenes with Maisie Williams were always good, but perhaps too much of a good thing has misled the writers from making Harrenhal too much about him, and too little about Arya, one of the central characters in the novels, and the series.
Spot on.
quote:
The utterly new material is… more complicated to like. Robb and Talisa features two very appealing, good-looking actors doing their best with material that, ultimately, feels like a cliché through and through. At the least the fact that they went and returned from the Crag without incident, and Talisa gives such a detailed story (although one that, unless I’m mistaken, places her as being quite a few years older than the show’s Robb—a curious decision, I thought), that it seems we can put to rest any lingering notions that she’s “really” Jeyne Westerling, or even that she’s a Lannister spy. He relationship seems genuine.

No I am pretty sure now that she is actually some bitch named Talisa from Volantis and I don't get that switch at all. Why not just have Jeyne Westerling? Could've done the same thing with her...
Although it really doesn't make that much of a difference she'll still serve the purpose of making Robb break his promis to the Freys

It is a big difference, imagine the shock of non-readers if they find out that she has been a Lannister spy the entire time.
I still think she is because of the scene in which Catelyn meets her. She is writing a letter and she jokes that she is a spy and the letter says "The young wolf is on the move." When Rob turns his head she quickly rolls it up, even my gf who hasn't read the books remarked that she bets Talissa is a spy and troop movement is what that letter communicated. Talissa then retorted to some Rob comment that she always believed herself to be a brilliant liar. So it is still possible...
