After watching only one question arose - why was it filmed? the same day I watched the first movie and went to bed with a good mood.

I found it entertaining. It’s not as good as the original gladiator, but it’s definitely entertaining. Denzel is great, the action set pieces are fantastic, and there’s just enough palace intrigue to give the fights some interesting plot consequences. The movie is fairly predictable and writing is pretty simplistic, but it gets you where you want to go. If you want swords and sandals, this is a movie that is worth your time.

I turned it off when they had dueling boats in the Coloseum with man eating sharks. Sorry someone had to say it.

The film feels lifeless.

It’s worth watching

It’s a Ridley Scott Gladiator movie. You must have a decent idea of what to expect, so why wouldn’t you watch?

It has solid audience review numbers. Lots of people here are just nuts.

I don't think I made it that far. Did Samuel L. Jackson pop up and say "I'm tired of these motherfrickin' sharks in this motherfrickin' Colosseum." You know, right before he got eaten.

It is decent, I enjoyed it somewhat. Definitely not on the level of the original movie, but not many are. It was entertaining. Denzel was pretty good. No DEI that I noticed as some others have mentioned. I think with a better casting of Lucius; it would have made more of an impact. Russel Crowe was outstanding in the first one and him coupled with Jaquin was the biggest factor.

Roman Colosseum had "boat warfare re-enactments" of famous battles for entertainment.... Doubt Sharks were involved, unless you think JAWS the Revenge movie is reality.

Just such a lazy- nado movie, poorly executed, bad CGI

I actually hated this movie because it put the title Gladiator on it. This would be in the DVD bargain bin in the 2000's as a Double-Feature with Ben Affleck's Pearl Harbor....and you'd buy it for Pearl Harbor.

I was shocked/impressed to learn after the movie that the Romans actually did flood it and have smaller scale boats reenact famous military battles. They could even fill and drain the entire thing in one day and hold dry fights the same night.

However, there were certainly no sharks but they did apparently have crocodiles included

People are being overly harsh. It was a far cry from the original but if you hadn’t seen the original it would be better. Glad I saw it in theaters but wouldn’t watch again off of streaming.

They came up with a story that could work, but would need two or three movies or a mini series to do it right.

While I think this was written like mediocre fan fic, I do agree with this.

This is a season of TV that needs lots of fleshing out and less shitty CGI and it could have been something. Like fan fic, they tried to shoehorn WAY too much plot and way too many characters.

Crocodiles would have made sense. Sharks were needlessly stupid.

I didn’t mind the character Denzel played but not sure he was a good fit. Maybe it was his accent.

I enjoyed the movie and thought it was entertaining. I liked how they tied the two movies together.

But, Sharks in the Colosseum was just dumb. My wife looked at me and asked "How would they get sharks to the Colosseum?"

That one thing really hurt the movie for me. I know they used to flood the Colosseum for boat battles and that is amazing on its own. I am sure a lot of people just drowned if they fell in the water during those battles and that would have been perfect in this movie.

I checked and the Romans would use semi-aquatic animals, crocodiles, seals, etc..

No one having issues with the crazed gigantic monkey/baboon creatures? Were those things even something that ever walked the earth?
