George Lucas’ axed Star Wars: Underworld—“Disney never would’ve bought the franchise”

The series was set between the events of “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope” and would’ve acted as a bridge between the original “Star Wars” trilogy and the prequel trilogy, the later of which McCallum produced. “I think we had over 60 scripts… like third draft scripts,” McCallum said, noting they brought the “most wonderful writers in the world” to Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch to map out and pen the series. “These were dark [scripts]. They were sexy. They were violent. They were absolutely wonderful, complicated, challenging scripts.”

McCallum stopped short of providing plot details for “Star Wars: Underworld” but said the series “would’ve blown up the whole ‘Star Wars’ universe and Disney would’ve definitely never offered George to buy the franchise.”

If he would’ve just added some child grooming and totalitarian propaganda to it Disney would’ve jumped all over that.

This is a timeline I really want to see.

I hope they still have the scripts.

The problem was that each episode was bigger than the films, so the lowest I could get it down to with the tech that existed then was $40 million an episode.
Might have had a little to do with why they never got filmed.

Says the guy melting over a joke. Humor and irony are lost on the indoctrinated.

That timeline was well-covered in The Clone Wars and I honestly don’t think anything else they do would be better than that.

$40 million an episode would have been insane. Each of the prequel movies had a budget of $115 million. That would have been over triple the budget of the movies while bringing in a fraction of the revenue.

You mean Rebels
Clone Wars takes place between 2 and 3

Rings of Power season 1 cost over 58million per episode!!

Rebels, Solo, Andor, and Rogue One. Solo was the weakest but still better than all the movies and some of the shows set after ROTJ. Would have loved to see the sequel they set up with Maul.
ETA: I forgot Bad Batch. Also entertaining.

Now I’m genuinely curious and I kind of want.

I just want GOT-style Sith Empire/KOTOR content

Yeah, you are totally right. It’s Rebels. Clone Wars ends at the same time as Revenge of the Sith. Forgot about that. I know Bad Batch also happens during that post-ROTS timeline but that doesn’t cover any major events I know of. I haven’t seen it all. Either way, this show could have been great if they went forward with it.

Can't take anything you say on this subject seriously

But Rebels is like the Andor timeline about 5 years. Having the previous 15 would be nice.

Star Wars and Empire are the only 2 really good movies. The rest are meh.
