you don't see how sending your entire cavalry on a charge into an unknown foe in complete darkness is an absolutely terrible decision?
It's what they do.

I thought Cavalry were supposed to be released after infantry
Cavalry, even in the West has been used for all kinds of things - screening, recon, flank security, as an arm of decision (typically on an enemy's uncovered flank or rear
But for a "horde" whether Mongol, Hun or Comanche - they're all cavalry, so the normal tactical concepts don't apply.
May not have made sense in this case, tactically, but it was better visually.

Charging into a for e that dense head on isn’t going to work.
They are effective riding through opponents and around opponents swarming and picking them off.
If you stop their charge they’re just on horses badly outnumbered
The overall battle plan of not using the walls until most of your fighting force is destroyed wasn’t great.
Imagine a will manned by unsullied with Dragonglass spears. It would be like whack a mole with 2 hammers for every hole

well y'all are saying this is the NKs motive to go south. So if you know someone is in a house you put eyes and bodies on every entrance, exit.
He didn’t know Bran was there until he marked him, and the previous 3ER was untouchable in that cave, so why would they be surrounding it?

NK was biding his time. Making WW's and such. Still doesnt accurately explain why it took 10,000 yrs

Did you miss the part about the 700 foot wall with magic in it?

the thing that bothers me most looking back is how nobody in the south or Essos ever had to fear the night king. I would have much rather had them lose and a small army falls back to like Moat Cailin or the Twins and then gets attacked from the other side by the Golden Company and Cersei and then Cersei and the GC see the wights and the dead

I'm glad that the Long Night is done for a few reasons:
1. You never read the books.
quote:
1. There won't be a mass extinction.
2. There will be a throne at the end. Or at least a King/Queen.
3. I don't see both Dragons dying so hopefully one is alive at the end.
4. HBO can set up a sequel series 10-15 years down the road.
Reading this made me want to puke. What a vanilla paint by numbers story book ending to an otherwise great franchise.
HBO and the show runners never took a risk. As soon as the source material was out the window (which contained all the risks that made the show what it is) they vanilla Hollywood white washed Westeros. frick that

And none of the previous people with dragons were stupid enough to leave him one. Guess it all makes sense in a way.

The episode was so well built, the shots, the music, the sound design. The very limited dialogue. I actually really liked it.
In the beginning of the episode they have Lady Mormont running in the background, ordering her men into action. I loved that. It’s a subtle way of establishing that she’s comfortable leading people, and so the subsequent scene with the giant makes sense.
And it’s just 3 seconds of her in the background of someone else’s scene.
The director knows you’ll see it. And doesn’t hammer it into your head.
Hope I dont start it but I assumed her killing the giant would bring the cries of SJW out in droves. Pleasantly surprised. I dont think it was that big of a deal for her to get maybe a minute of total screen time and let her make a nice kill as she goes out. After the credits D&D talked about how much they liked her and wanted to send her out properly. Nothing wrong with that.

Ok, but it didn’t happen that way.
The North was always the gatekeeper against the NK
And Dany’s whole army was convinced. The army that’s most of the fighting forces of Essos
They SHOWED Cersei a wight and she didn’t care.
What other armies are missing?

Speaking of Bran, why focus on him warging into a the raven, other than to show a cool camera sweeping scene through the battle?
I kept thinking they would return to that but it was just shrugged off.
EITHER
1) luring the NK to him
2) helping arya get into position
or
3) he couldn't see shite so went to the skycam

The previous people with dragons didn’t know he existed, as the long night was thousands of years before the Targs

No it wasn't. It was used to show the hopelessness of their situation.
I know that they used it for. But that was stupid. If you just speed out into darkness when you can't see anything?
This is the same shite over and over again from TLJ to End game to this. Every one knows what they did accomplished the goal they want to accomplish. What people are saying is doing that was fricking retarded. And bad writing.

quote:Well, technically you don't need them. They already got married.
So what's up with Tyrion and Sansa? The conversation they shared in the crypts when all hell broke loose was interesting. Wedding bells in the air soon?
You know, after sleeping on this, for me the episode gets even better.
There's things said and done that aren't Rambo moments, that make a big deal going forward.
Sansa to Tyrion regarding their marriage: "It would never have worked..."; well no shite, he's a Lannister and she's a Stark, two houses feuding since the War of the Five Kings. And both were prisoners in that war. But NO, that's not her reason, it's that he's on Dany's side- she sounds like a jealous teenager. And Missandei calls her on that.
She later says "the most heroic thing any of us here can do is face the truth". That's going to mean something major about her relationship towards Dany, and her views of the North staying separate, I think.
Just a side note: anyone notice that Melisandre, when she's out dealing magic favors, stops and addresses Greyworm specifically? I know it's just a Valerian greeting before battle... but he sorta looks more grizzled as he fights. Almost like he has more... testosterone...

Yeah, in hindsight it turned out bad, but you don't take away what the Dothraki are known for and have won countless battles doing.
I think regardless of how amazing a Dothraki horde is in an open field, it was bad tactic. If that was Jon’s idea that was his 2nd big battle fail.
They should’ve had the dead charge first then sweep in on both sides with the Dothraki just like my boy Theoden did at Minas Tirith.
A head on charge into the pitch black was stupid. Also, why did the catapaults stop after one round? Should’ve been nonstop all night until they were overran.

Well the Targaryens werent the first dragonriders. Just none of the other dragonriders ever actually ventured that far. Not sure why the giant arse wall skipped my mind. But it still doesnt accurately explain why he didnt begin to mobilize at the point he did. Hes already headed for the Wall before Dany even shows up with dragons correct?
