Speaking of Bran, why focus on him warging into a the raven, other than to show a cool camera sweeping scene through the battle?
I kept thinking they would return to that but it was just shrugged off.

bad battle strategy.
Again. I'm just not understanding this.
The Dothraki are known as the best cavalry in the world. Cavalry charge. It's what they do.
Yeah, in hindsight it turned out bad, but you don't take away what the Dothraki are known for and have won countless battles doing.

There was a shitpile of people in the crypt, and the wights weren’t cut loose in there for very long before the whole thing ended

I agree his wasnt plausible and I would have preferred for him to die. But it doesnt take away from the show that much. not enough to be the difference maker in whether it was a good episode or not.
The episode was so well built, the shots, the music, the sound design. The very limited dialogue. I actually really liked it.
In the beginning of the episode they have Lady Mormont running in the background, ordering her men into action. I loved that. It’s a subtle way of establishing that she’s comfortable leading people, and so the subsequent scene with the giant makes sense.
And it’s just 3 seconds of her in the background of someone else’s scene.
The director knows you’ll see it. And doesn’t hammer it into your head.

I thought Cavalry were supposed to be released after infantry
ETA: Hence the phrase “The Calvary is here”, meaning they are here to save the day (save the infantry).

If you missed last night's episode you can just put on a dark pair of shades and shake around violently for 75 mins and you'll get the gist of it.
This would work, but only if you have one of those pair of shades they give you after dilating your pupils at the eye doctor.

I thought it was to lure in the NK

Loved the episode. As far as battles go, I think I liked Battle Of The Bastards a little better, but man did this episode have some great moments.
I hope that Gilly kills The Mountain just so all the miserable people in this thread will melt some more.

I’d just like to add that I thought little Lyanna had gotten stale
AND THEN TOTALLY REDEEMED HERSELF
She was great this episode

the thing that bothers me most looking back is how nobody in the south or Essos ever had to fear the night king. I would have much rather had them lose and a small army falls back to like Moat Cailin or the Twins and then gets attacked from the other side by the Golden Company and Cersei and then Cersei and the GC see the wights and the dead

I would have rathered he snapped her neck, dropped the dagger. Bran catches it and shanks him.
I actually thought that was what happened at first.

But he was gearing up before Bran even became the 3ER. In episode 1 they showed up, first time in 10,000 yrs. What spawned any WW/NK movement at all, ending Global Warming?

Why?
The 3ER is literally immobile. No need to make sure he doesn’t sneak out

Well give us a good reason why they would be camped out there

Somebody earlier ITT posted a great Tywin video of that

Your point doesn't make any sense. They had wights there, ready to go in given the opportunity.
You are acting like the NK only wanted to kill the 3ER.
Do you think the NK would have just stopped if he had killed Bran?
Posted on 4/29/19 at 11:47 am to Thib-a-doe Tiger
quote:well y'all are saying this is the NKs motive to go south. So if you know someone is in a house you put eyes and bodies on every entrance, exit.
For what purpose? The 3ER was just chilling in there forever and they couldn’t go in
