well when GOT was good, it wasn't exactly the best at making viewers happy
the climax of season 1 was the guy we thought as the hero getting his head cut off
people threatened to quit the show after Oberyn was killed
now it's just your standard fantasy schlock that you can buy at airports, so the real fans of the early seasons will be upset at the shift

while i couldn't see b/c the DP/director were terrible, i did assume it was a suicide pact
i forgot about plot armor, though

I don't hate that Arya killed the Night King. If I had to rank the characters that I would have wanted to take him out, Arya would have easily been number 2. I do feel a little cheated that we didn't get a Jon vs Night King showdown though. In my opinion, it will be all good if Jon does something epic in these last episodes, but I'm not even sure what that would be right now. Should be a fun ride these last 3 episodes.

Like the army of the dead.....the Hodors overtook the fan base is what you are saying?

My takeaways:
I couldn't see shite. That was annoying.
I'm disappointed that they had all this build up of the army of the dead/Night King and we barely knew anything about them. They were this looming threat that were just there and now they're gone.
I will say, though. I'm not upset that they killed them off. I'm glad GoT can get back to the families battling it out for the Iron Throne and all the political drama that comes with it, which is why we all loved the show in the first place.

Good but disappointing episode for me.
I am sure most of my thoughts have already been mentioned, but I'll throw them out there anyway.
The episode was WAY too fricking dark. I couldn't see shite most of the time, and I was in a completely dark room.
I kept getting mad at the stupid misuse of the dragons. There were so many times they could've come in handy, but Jon and Dany were wasting time doing nothing.
Arya killing the NK was cool, but it was annoying that she got past the hundred members of the army of the dead, and the other WWs. Even as an assassin of sorts, that was pretty unbelievable.
Bran is totally fricking useless.
Not nearly enough main characters died. We lost what, Theon, Beric Donderion, Grenn (I think that's the crow dude's name), Jorah, and Melissandre. And the Mormont girl if you consider her "main." That isn't near enough IMO. This was supposed to be the war to end all wars, basically, and everyone managed to survive despite being overrun ten times. And Sam making it out alive is hilarious.
I liked that the Starks in the crypt came alive. But it was weird that they were busting out of the (what looks like) concrete tombs so easily.
The dragon fight above the clouds looked cool as hell.
It was nice to see Dany pick up a sword and do something and not be useless and talk the whole time.
I feel like I didn't get enough Tormund and he was barely onscreen.
Lady Mormont getting crushed to death was cool, but at least she went out like a boss. That was kinda cool.
I'm not sure why they used such poor strategy, especially in the beginning. You know the dead are coming, nonstop, right at you. So what do you do...you break your formations and send your Dothraki out into the darkness to be slaughtered and become ammunition for the dead? That is extraordinarily stupid, and there are far too intelligent and experienced people in charge to make those kinds of mistakes. Why would you not let the dead come to you and hold as steady as possible? Add to that the massive misuse of the dragons, and it just was a poorly coordinated defense.
I thought dragonglass killed the dead? But on all those Czech hedgehogs there was dragonglass and the dead were scraping by some of them and it looked like they weren't dying. That seemed weird.
The NK's dragon being torn apart but still slinging fire all over the place with holes in its neck was pretty awesome.
That Arya scene in the library was pretty well done. That was intense.
I was a little disappointed that the Hound stopped fighting, even if for a little bit, and even if there was fire everywhere.
All in all, it was a good episode, but I just figured the stakes would be a little higher for more people. When you have 20+ main characters there for something like this, I'd expect more than a few of them to die off. Especially with the series coming to an end in a few weeks.

As ever around here, no doubt. Bunch of pussies, the lot of 'em.
I thoroughly enjoyed last night.

I thought it was. I was begging her to off herself. And I even told my wife it would be funny if they ended up together (assuming they both survive to the end game).

Glad to see we will have to deal with this bullshite from you for the rest of the season, and into eternity.

I am kinda glad the whole Army of the Dead thing is wrapped up, but the one thing that sucks about it is that it makes Cersei look like a goddamn genius for staying out of it. She was absolutely right to stay away and let the north battle it out, and now all she has to do is defeat what is left.

It being dark was purposefully authentic. It was a scene in winter at night with complete cloud cover. If there weren't flames, there was no light.

well cersei is the smart one
tyrion the clever one
jamie the fool
so it fits

Pretty sure dragon glass kills white walkers and wights just need to be chopped in half to die.
And it was edd not grenn that died last night. Grenn died at ther wall

i just think it is a difficult story to finish. D/D just turned the show from elite quality to really bad quality when they ran things
the thing that truly fricked the show up more than anything else was Cercei blowing up King's Landing. everyone last week was like "WE DON'T NEED POLITICAL STUFF THE WALKERS ARE THE ENEMY!" and this week it's "THIS WAS ALWAYS A POLITICAL SHOW. THE WALKERS WERE A DIVERSION!"
well Cersei destroyed Westerosi politics, plus 2 dragons survived, so the "game" is pretty much dead. so we shall see what happens

Was it really a long night? Everyone was worried about winter and food, don't have to worry so much anymore.

Not really.
The whole point of the Dothraki horde was that they completely run over opponents in battle with their initial charge.
It is what they are known for

you are correct, which can lead to a major nitpick but i'll just drop it
