One thing that bothered me was that Mel basically got the same death scene as the Purifier, who was originally a Furyan, in "The Chronicles of Riddick."

I was sort of expecting her to literally go out in a blaze of glory to clear out a room or something.

You said the IB/GC would rather fight with the side with dragons, yet they made a deal to fight against them

it's unlikely Dany was even in Westeros when that deal was made. she hasn't exactly been there a long time

in fact, iirc, Cersei was scrambling to get the money to repay the older loans and ran into Dany's dragons, implying it was certainly before Dany's arrival

I think show and book ending ends up being the same we just get there in different ways.

Do you think Arya kills the NK? Or that its by sneak attack?

wasn't that 3ER only the 3ER for about 50 years?

On this note, what the frick was she doing last night after the Night King raised the army?

She is flying around burning all the night kings army after they were raised from the dead and she just lands Drogon next to Jon and he yells Bran! And runs off. Then she just awkwardly sat there for like 30 seconds while Drogon got stabbed and overwhelmed
She's probably thinking "god damn it Jon, just get on the fricking dragon already".

I mean, I clearly thought that's why she landed, just as she did beyond the wall. And just like then, Jon decides to fart around on the ground instead. Next thing she knows, Drogon's in need of a giant flea collar.

She's come to rescue him twice now, and both times he didn't get the hint.

btw, im not hating on you as a poster. ive always enjoyed your posts, but GOT talk can bring out some heated discussions

It certainly can. And I normally try to engage in discussion rather than just bitch and run away.

I'll try and answer your question but to be honest this is a conversation much easier had in person than typed on a message board:

To be honest I don't have a problem with the Night King losing at Winterfell. I just didn't like the way it happened. The battle was fantastic. The climax sucked to me. At minimum I'd have like to see the Night King take his sword out and frick some people up. He could've killed someone before Arya got to him. Or he could've caught Arya and killed her and then Jon Killed him or visaversa.

My biggest problem was the directors did too many stupid tropes and clichés and all of them fell in the last 20 minutes which just made it worse. For example:

Danny just falling off her dragon and then it dissapears for some reason. Multiple times people got overwhelmed and the camera left them and later they were just fine. Stopping mid battle to stare at someone and getting stabbed. Etc...

Before yesterday, I'd have gone one of three routes probably:

Cersei marches her army to Winterfell. As they get ready to face Jamie/Jon /Dany etc... Night King and his army shows up. They all ban together to kill the Night King and then turn on each other. Could've been done well and could've been a long multi episode battle.

Sansa and Imp are just going to bend the knee to Jon and Danny, so that would/will still need to be dealt with.

The Night King wins at Winterfell and there is a massive retreat. The retreating army arrives at KL begging for help. Cersei of course refuses and as she goes to kill them all, or maybe does kill many of them, Night King shows up and they have to stop fighting to kill him and then turn on each other.

My absolutely dream preferred ending, although it would never happen: NK shows up at Winterfell and kills pretty much everyone and then marches on KL and annihilates it with 3 dragons. The show ends with the Night King standing in the throne room as the three dragons burn everything to the ground.

you not follow your conversation with SFP. He was talking about how DandD were turning the show into a feel good happy ending story. Then you gave examples of the show that followed source material written by Martin.

do you not see that?

Eh. His character kind of sucks. All the Littlefinger fanboys have disappeared and arent talking about their he's still alive theory. He served his purpose as a villain pretty well though but I think his time ran out at about the right time. Cunning is not the type of villain thats needed anymore.

Im talking of show Littlefinger not book Littlefinger.

i didnt like show little finger. always acted like a little bitch.

Dany was on Dragonstone
IB knew who they were fighting

If the books are ever released, I highly doubt as many vital characters survive the confrontation with the others.

Maybe GRRM is not showing his cards, but he seems to indicate that the major plot point endings in the TV show match the books:

They can't match the books. Because the books aren't written.

This is no longer Martin's vision or writing. He turned it over to HBO.

Might want to sit on it until spring... but killing the Night King may end winter early. The White Walkers are hinted to be responsible for the irregular seasons.

We already know where he came from. The Children of the Forest were losing a war with the First Men and created the Night King to exterminate the First Men. They SHOWED us when he was created.

Bran ALREADY showed us where the Night King and walkers came from and the Night King is still trying to accomplish his goal of erasing the humans thousands of years later. That's why he's got a boner for the Three Eyed Raven. Sam hit on it that the Raven is the history of humans. Erasing the Raven goes a long way to erasing humans.

Lots of people see this show without watching this show.

I agree with this mostly. Only plothole is at that ceremony there's a carving of the old 3 eyed ravens face on the tree (which is considered holy to the children). So clearly the children held the 3ER in high regard to the point of someone who was god like. So why would the children create the night king try to fight the 3ER?

A fight would have been nice but given the setting, anybody that would have tried to fight him in the end would have gotten murdered asap with his crew around him.

I'm fine with that. Have him and his crew absolutely wrecking shop. I wanted to see that. I waited 8 years to see that. And then he finally gets to Bran. And Arya jumps out and kills him. At least we'd get to see the Night King be a bad arse for a few minutes.
