I hated that.

It reduced the night king to being a book burner, effectively. Which is silly.

Now this is something I agree with you on.

I was looking for something way deeper than "wipe westerosi off the map"

So Bran confirms the NK is after him and total annihilation of mankind.
Yeah I hated that too.

Also, is it strange we didn’t see the NK at the end of the ep? Is he flying to Kings Landing?
I think he is. I think he's going to kill everyone south of Winterfell, rise up that army then pinch the survivers in the middle.

Honestly if they hadn't included this I wouldve thought the showrunners forgot they were related

I don’t think it was necessary to have them talk. You could have Lady Mormont give Jorah a scornful look in the hall. That recognizes the relationship quickly, and allows you to move on quickly.

It’s also more interesting if Jorah is still a pariah.

Compare this episode to the battle of black water, and Cersei, preparing to murder her family, if necessary. That had drama. That was interesting.

This was, unfortunately, a filler episode that often veered into the cringe worthy.

Jaime pledging to serve under Brianne, Sansa and Dani’s girl power moment, the fireside reunion. The last is a good example of the problems on this episode. They spent the bulk of the film on procedural reunions that do not advance the story.

Let’s have the Mormonts talk. Let’s have Arya and the Hound have a moment. Let’s have Bran explain why he didn’t rat out Jaime.

The last is a good example of the mistakes they’ve been making over the last few seasons.

It is an elemental lesson in writing. It’s something taught in grade school.

Show, don’t tell.

They didn’t need to have Bran tell Jaime why. His line, what we do for love, and his subsequent silence in the trial is self explanatory.

Having Bran explain himself is unnecessary. It’s just wasted film, and you put the story on pause, just to make sure the audience understands something which was already patentedly obvious.

This is not subtle or good writing.

One of the great things about the battle of black water is how they use these quiet scenes to build tension. To build up to the battle. This episode does the opposite. These chats reduce tension.

Only three scenes in this episode really matter. Jaimes entrance, Tormunds arrival, and the crypt sequence.

The rest are cutting room material.

Then why do you watch?

Most cringeworthy part of the episode was Brienne getting knighted. And then everyone clapped. What fricking SJW wrote that scene.

Something more along the lines of #WightLivesMatter?

Brienne is very closed off and it doesn't really go with her character. She's been focused on being accepted as an equal for the entirety of the show and she got that from someone she respected.

All bullshite. Arya isn't the only virgin, and she has the serious hots for Jaime, in the book and on the show.

That would be George. Brienne's entire purpose in his books is to break gender roles

Ugh. I did not need to see Arya and Gendry doing that.

Nod back to Robert’s statement to Ned along the lines of “I have a son, you have a daughter, let’s join our houses”

It used to be a really smart show. Especially when they went off script.

I loved Arya and Tywins scenes. Those don’t appear in the books. And that sequence where Robert, Ned, and the Kingsguard tell war stories - that was great.

In the last few seasons they’ve really dumbed it down.

It is unfortunately, probably the only ending to the series we’ll get.

Martin will never publish the last books.

Loved the episode, thought the interactions were good and their was a solid amount of humor that we definitely won't be seeing for the rest of the season.

I think Tyrion's little quip about becoming "the dead" and traveling south to tear his sisters face off may be a little foreshadowing.

Kind of a throw away line... kind of weird.. but.. it fulfills prophecy, kills off a loved character, and shows that after winterfell the fight won't be done.

Because they can't bitch if they don't watch.

People bitched last week and this week about all the filler, then they bitch when Ghost shows up with no background.

Noticed that as well. If he was marching on Winterfell with the rest of the army it would make sense from a show runner perspective to pan from Winterfell to the white walkers and then to their king before cutting off the episode.
They didn't do that which leads me to think they go through the entire battle of winterfell looking for the NK. They defeat the white walkers but never find the dragon and NK. Final scene is Cersei in Kings Landing on the throne as she hears a dragon in the sky overhead

You don’t talk about it. That’s the solution.

It’s like the briefcase in Ronin. You never find out what’s inside.

Tormund and beric should see a dragon flying through the air if they had to ride all the way around the army

I'll bet it crushes you that there are all these women in this show and no scenes of them in the kitchen.

Not at all. I have no problem with the powerful women.

It was the clapping at the end that made me shake my head

I thought tonight’s episode was good and whoever said it was like “the last supper” was a good description. Everything felt final, all of the goodbyes have been said. I feel like everyone is gonna die if they don’t make it into the crypt. Arya-i wasn’t ready. We have watched her grow up and I just wasn’t ready to see that. Dany/sansa-i didnt like the way that convo ended. Dany/jon-didnt like the way that convo ended either. Basically made me feel like she may die and yall know I have been on her side since day 1. I think everyone from the fireplace scene dies, except tyrion. I lovvvved the Brienne knighting scene, made me cry bc i feel like that’s what she’s always wanted. Podrick-what can’t he do?? Hound and flame sword guy are done. Theon, bye. Bran, bye.I feel sad. It’s really over.
