Since they declared him King in the North, they were obviously don't care about the rules of the Night's Watch all that much.

The books emphasize that the North and the Vale are the only kingdoms to really take the Night's Watch seriously and see it as honorable.

Plus the Umbers whole reason for pairing with the Boltons was because of the wildings

so now that he's defeated the boltons with wildling help and presented them as allies, they and the rest of the northmen just change their minds? because a 12 yr old girl yelled at them?

it was dumb

Yeah, Theon is the most underrated character IMO. I reallly look forward to him and Tyrion chatting, since the two play off well together.

In the show they don't. If they did they wouldn't all name him KitN.

What natural resources is the north capable of having an economy with?

The south has crops, gold, and the seat of power.

It's crazy to me in 7 weeks this show will be down to its last 6 episodes and we will have advanced the story so much further.

My body and mind aren't ready for this season

The seat of power is obviously not a natural resource, the access to water for shipping and transport is the bigger issue.

I don't recall a lot of discussion about trading in the north but that may have been an issue of emphasis. Obviously they have timber in abundance and that's really valuable. Animal pelts have been highly valued in many economies and the lannister gold is now gone - it seems more likely that there are unexplored veins of minerals in the north than in lannister land at this point.

What the hell do they eat in the north? What about protein?

They had a ton of food for when the Lannisters visited.

That was during the Long Summer, which lasted over a decade. They should have plenty of food at that time.

Protein would be relatively easy between hunting and sheep. Crops like wheat, turnips, potatoes and beets also grow readily in northern climates.

From his perspective, but why would the Northmen and Knights of the Vale believe this?

I think they messed up. Since they didn't bring him back the first episode, there would have been ample time to show a scene where they are sending out ravens informing everyone the Lord Commander is dead. Then, they could send out ravens the episode after he is brought back and say he has risen.

And while not particularly important, this would have made the scene better when Sam gets to the Citadel. This would provide a better explanation for the 'irregularities' they had to sort out (as opposed to Sam just saying Jeor Mormont died and Maester Aemon just didn't send ravens because he was sick).

House Manderly has a lot of fisherman at White Harbor

Also if Brandon's Gift and the New Gift can support the Knight's Watch, I'm sure the lands south of that can support Winterfell.

The crannogmen in the Neck eat like swamp people, frogs gators etc.

or they could have kept Mel around to explain it
or they could have had beric and Thoros show up and explain it
anything really other than ignore it

Jon stark/targaeryn rising from the dead should be a big friggin deal to those who have an idea of what that might mean. it won't make sense at all if bran and a character we've never seen are the only ones who know who Jon is
