A least the negathroners can't say, "Very little happened this episode. I'm getting bored."

I thought the scenes with Dany were good this episode.
The rest was meh for E9 and seeing Shireen die like that was awful to watch...Stannis is doomed.
IMO Stannis is fricked. I could see him turning into the Night's King 2.0 as OML has stated previously.

Now whether or not he actually dies from the shanking is a whole other question.
That's the big thing that readers have been wondering about since the last book. Most of use feel he is the main focus of the entire story, and no one feels his death is permanent (or that he is even dead). I would be shocked if they show him revived at the end, would be anit-cliffhanger.

The problem was the story lines just didn't fit well together. Whereas last week, as disparate as they were, they did all somehow fit. Here is all the petty politics, not here is why is doesn't F'n matter.
This episode somehow managed to downplay one of the most significant moments in the entire series just so they could put in a shocking moment in episode 9. Quite frankly, it didn't need it.

It seems like the "others" have some will and control of their actions. I can't see Stannis going that route. Maybe as a Wight, but at best he dies in battle, at worst he becomes a contender for the throne. It will be a long time before the WW come back to the story.

By long time, you mean next season?

yeah, like 4-5 episodes of airtime.

The CGI in this show is terrible. It almost takes away from the story that is being told. It was like watching Dinocroc 3 on the sci-fy channel when Drogon came to the rescue.

Greater good ethic was used to justify her sacrifice. "It was for the greater good. One died that many can live." The same greater good ethic was used to justify Nazi German's holocaust. However if her sacrifice leads to victory and Stannis is the leader in that cause, that's the ultimate saving.
bullshite. Stannis could have turned back to the Wall and everyone would have lived. Stannis put his desires over his daughter, and by that I mean torturous hellfire. I think even fricking Tywin would have a problem burning Tyrion at the stake and wouldn't do it to him. That's how low of a bar Stannis has set now. He's clearly without question the worst father on the show, and I can't think of a worse one on the top of my head.
With most bad TV/movie fathers, at least their spawn has done something to them that they feel warranted it. This is just inexcusable by any level of reasoning. It's especially despicable since I know Stannis truly doesn't believe in what Mel is doing, and is just doing this JUST in case. He's horrible and truly irredeemable after this.

Did you think the CGI was awful last week?
They don't have the 150M budget we see in modern CGI heavy movies.

Jesus, you know how hard it is to make an actor ride a flying dragon look real and not ridiculous?!?? It's fricking impossible!

I really just hate all CGI in anything, but it sucks there aren't really other options for a fricking dragon.

Yep, no doubt. I originally didn't think he would die from the lynching in ADWD. It wasn't until I read one of the threads here where someone mentioned that his death would relinquish him from his oath that I started to think he might die and then be revived. But the more I think about it, he has already broken his oath by bedding Ygritte.
Plus once the Others break the wall, the Night's Watch will all be done, and Snow will become the equivalent of a king of the remaining Night's Watch and Wildlings (and I personally believe eventually the North before he units with Dany).

My dislike has been building for some time. I didn't mind some of the changes to streamline the story, but this episode was one of the worst.

Well, I think it's safe to say that we have jumped the shark with this one.

Stannis makes Craster look like Danny Tanner from Full House.

Exactly. He's such a bitch and has blamed me like 4 times this season for ruining the show for him, despite the fact I haven't posted in there since the Red Wedding. Only time I've really posted in there in 2 years is a comatose Drogo image when some Hodor asked if the Night's King and the Mad King were the same person. He and his ilk really need to stop pitching a fit every time basic reasoning is brought into their thread.

At least the CGI wasn't on the level of Season 3 of Spartacus when they brought down the stadium.
Posted on 6/7/15 at 10:55 pm to OMLandshark
Show is getting silly. It's like shitty fan fiction at this point.

I would also like to add I think I was really close on my body count prediction this episode.
